My most evil snake...

Finally got some pictures of my new kingsnake and he was not very happy about it. I know he likes to musk and bite but today he was extra evil. When I go to pick him up he pushes against my hand like, "Hey stop touching me!". Then he proceeds to strike at me. I don't back off and get him out anyway. Then comes the musk and a few more bites. Usually after this he calms down and gives up. But today after getting him out, I had him at arms length getting ready to take some pictures (didn't have the cam up yet) and he struck at my face and got me on the tip of the nose! And after I called him cute too. What nerve?! We I got a few pictures of him before he became interested in my fingers. I've gone through this sort of thing before and was hoping to avoid it. Last time he got the first knuckle of my index finger and constricted my hand for around 10 minutes before I got him to let go. Well this time was a little different. I tried keeping the tips of my fingers away from his mouth. But I failed. He was too fast for me! He got the tip of my pinkie and proceeded to swallow it!!! :eek1: I swear I spent about 15 - 20 min. trying to get him off. I stuck his head under cold tap. Didn't let go. I ran the sink full of cold water and stuck his head under. Few bubbles came up, but didn't let go. Then I too a finger nail brush and used the handle to try and pry his lower jaw off while under water. Finally he lets go! I then feed him and put him back into the cage. He was still rather ticked and didn't go straight to sleep. So, I took a few more pictures. My boyfriend wanted to take a picture of him eating my finger but I was more worried about getting him off.

His eyes are light silver but some reason look green here

Note: Don't mind my boyfriends messy room or his christmas lights lol! Only one string of them work... Why are guys so messy?

For a comparison I'll throw in a couple picture of Jack, my other king snake. It seems to me his body is more rounded than Jormungand's and Jack can't climb worth crap or cling to me like a corn snake. But Jormungand clings and climbs very well. I'm not sure which one is normal.

Hey, I oughtta send my MBK your way--Jormu-whatever (how do you pronounce that?) and Dublin would make a great pair, and they'd probably team up in their efforts .

A short discription of who he is: the enormous, tail-biting serpent of Midgard. Odin imprisoned it in the sea to get rid of it, but it grew until it embraced all of earth. At Ragnarok it will poison Thor and pollute the sky.

Some Cali. Kings are like that. Next time when cool water does not work try tapping him on the noise with a pen. Not hard but enough he knows you are there. You might try warm water next time also.

I really do like my Cali. Kings. You just do not know what will happen when you open their tubs.

Update on Jormungand. He is as evil as ever since he shed. He even strikes the glass when he sees me. Kind of funny that he doesn't bite me when I put on gloves though. It's like he knows I have gloves on and his bites are useless lol. I bought a snake hook for him.

Anyway I finally found a picture of a snake that looks like him. It was a reverse wide striped Cali king. The only thing that messes with my mind is the color of Jormungand. He isn't black and white like Jack. I was old elsewhere on here that he was a banana. But my only problem with that is when I google banana king I get a description of a yellow and brown or red/brown snake. Jormungand I will say is yellow (more yellow/green to me ), but he doesn't have brown or red/brown on him. He has black stripe and pattern. Just as black as Jack's black.... This confuses me.

Soooo beautiful... I love the look of king snakes, but their (often) nasty attitudes & taste for other snakes have scared me off. I'll probably give in to the temptation one day, though.

Believe it or not, my nastiest snake is a corn - Miami phase girl named Betty, who uses me like target practice. If she weren't so darned pretty, I might be tempted to get a king snake just for her! I kid, I kid - maybe.

P.S. I wish you'd gotten photos of the pinky-finger munching... not to laugh at your pain, but that would have been hilarious to see.

That's a cali king all right! My introduction to Hera, whom I bought, was at Robbie's house when she tried to swallow my thumb. We tried sticking my hand, with snake attached, in cool water, which didn't work. Eventually Robbie carefully pried her mouth off my thumb with 2 credit cards. By this point she had pretty much my whole thumb engulfed!

I haven't been bitten yet and (even though this prolly won't happen) i want to keep it that way lol

I know what will happen with my two -- they will come flying out mouth open to BITE me, the mouse, or whatever!

Beautiful kings! I have to fend my kingsnake off with the tub lid every time I feed him, but I wouldn't change him for the world!

I know what you mean. I think he is a beauty and even though he is intent on killing me (as if he could lol) it just makes the very rare moments that I can hold him all the more special.

Video Update

Here is a little video update of Jormungandr. He is actually being good for once. Though he does start to get a little pissed towards the end.

In the video I point out the white spots on his head to compare with his sides and also the white specks on his back that indicate where a normal striped king would have a white stripe all the way down the back but how he only has a hint left of that.
