I quit trying to stop my 03 Bloodred female from eating me.

As I open the cage, she takes a spurt..
BloodSmallOct22-02.jpg

Sniffs for 2 seconds.... and then latches on.

She means business when she wants to eat me.

So that's why I have been handling her with a glove. She sometimes even like to chew the glove ;) The reason I wear the glove is that these chewing bites are not nice. They hurt more than the normal defensive bites of corns.

Anyways, months and months of repeating this excersize did not help so I just have to face it...LOL She will never be a normal handable snake. One thing I like is that she will be part of a project to get fresh bloodlines in Europe. At least this line will be good feeders I guess.. LOL

Trying to eat you is right! Look at the size of that mouth! OPEN WIDE! lol! What a shame though... she's really gorgeous.

marcell, you might want to consider washing your hands after handling the mice...

Beautiful snake.

LOL...

Sorry to laugh Marcel! I just remember the first pics you posted of this little girl trying to consume you. I believe she was starting with your thumb or maybe a finger, but that's been awhile I could be wrong about that!

It is kind of funny though, glad it's you and not me! lmao j/k

Goood luck with her my friend

lol , I know how you feal , I got to a point with a couple of mine that I just started picking them up with a piece of cloth over thier heads. The chance they would bite was %99.

well..

I don't know how snakes react on difffrent substances but maybe you could dip youre hand into some alchohol, so than when the snake starts eating it'll back off. Then the alchohol must surely don't harm the snake, but i don't know if it will or not. But then again, there's still the problem that i don't know if the snake will remember it for the next time you'll take him out of its tank.

pfff dutch is much easier !

I saw my self how hungry your bloodred is, a very special habit.. :)
Even more special when you consider that it didn't accept any food a year ago .. :shrugs:

Marcel,

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Just give that serpentine Kaboutertje a pinky and he'll leave you alone. Come on, you can do it. It's not like you only have one to give. (grin). :p

Well, I know this is going to sound odd, but maybe she needs to grow just a little bit more before she realizes your digits are not edible. You see, I own a Green-cheek conure who was plenty nippy as a baby. He's now 5 monthes old and while he will nip occasionally, especially if he doesn't want to do something, he seemsto not nip as much and as hard a he did when I got him at 3 monthes old. Maybe snake babies are the same way sometimes.

Actually I don't mind her nasty habits.. She is over one year old now and her reactions get fiercer. So I stop bothering and leave her to peace. I do not handle them for fun anyways. I do think it is nice to have complete dog tame snakes though but if one it is not, so be it.

LOL Marcel, I have an anery who tried to eat me! It was the funniest sensation ever!

Perhaps it would have been easier if you would have put her away immediately and not first grapping the camera and take nice shots :bounce:

LOL!! Couldn't resist. Didn't hurt in the slightest so I thought it was a great opportunity to get one of those photo's you don't normally get the time to take. You never know when they might come in handy
