02 Orange Candy Cane

carol

Down with the sickness
She is het for motley. Her father (a Hypo Miami het amel) was very brown as a hatchling then turned really red. I hope she will become more red with time as well.

Yes that is one very stunning animal... I love the colors! Candycanes are something I dream of at night!!! I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!

Candycanes have a very white background with orange, red or yellow saddles with no borders. They just have the two colours- white and the other. Amels usually have quite a bit of orange and can often have a mix of reds oranges and yellows. They often have borders. Candycanes are a type of Amelanism so there isn't a huge amount of difference.

Gorgeous animal, it would be great if the reds get more pronounced as it grows.:D.

Cornsnake Keeper, this little girl is the result of breeding a South Mountain Hypo Miami to a Serpenco Milksnake Phase Motley. She got the best of both worlds. Obviously they are both het amel. I got two females like this and I am hoping for a male from the second clutch. I am almost positive this particular Milksnake Phase Motley is indeed a motley. I knew the male was het amel but it was a nice little suprise to find this female was too.
The thing I really like about these two is, unlike most candy canes where the white is more like a translucent color, these two girls have such bold solid white. Wonderful suprise!

She is absolutely gorgeous!
I never really saw anything special in candy canes, but now I sure do.
Do you have a pic of the other female too?

Here's one of my Orange Candy canes

This on is from Don Soderberg, South Mountain Reptiles.

I think you're right Carol, yours should turn out a nice bright red color.

Very nice Clint! Those ones have that nice bold white also. It almost seems like there is a translucent type of white and a pigmented type of white in different lines. Like the different pigments of white in a snow. I wonder if we could find out how that all works.
Here is the only pic of the sister I could find. The pic shows her a bit more red than she really is, but it is the only one I have.
I still have both of these girls, being such a great asset to my Miami motley project, I am not sure I am willing to let one of these girls go. I just know with my luck something will happen to the one I keep. I guess it all depends on what comes out of the second clutch. It is the only clutch I didn't record when it was layed and they seem like they are taking forever to come out. I am crossing my fingers, I haven't had a whole lot of good fortune with my second clutches this year.
Kilo was offered one of these girls for all her wonderful work and she took quite a while deliberating over this one and the one she chose. She'd pick up her deli cup, than the other... choices, choices. It was funny. One of them I didn't bring because I was still keeping and eye out. It had come out of the egg with it's cord still attached and I had to cut it. I wanted to make sure it was going to be all right. She is fine now.

To show you how much they have transformed in the past two months this is the same snake as one of the above. They get darker everyday. Thank Goodnes, it healed so well.

Oops here is the pic.

Carol, are you sure you won't let that second one go? I'd be very interested... That is exactly what I have always wanted!

They're crossed! I have this feeling you're gonna ask a fortune for her...sure hope not. Please keep me updated through these forums about your clutch...
