VERY nice...Abbott okeetees are one of the nicest lines out there....wait to those colors start coming in....BEAUTIFUL!!! :)

I picked up a pair of Abbott’s Okeetees this year and I have to say that they are very unique amount Okeetees. They have been referred to as their own “Morph” since they are such an extreme form of Okeetee. Your little guy is going to be a real show stopper when he grows up.

ecreipeoj-Thanks,I can't wait to see his adult colors.I'm waiting for a shed, hopefully he'll get more orange.
peep827-The abbott's okeetee were originally bred by Lee Abbott that's how they got their name, but I got Costello from SMR.Yes,he does look a lot like Monty Orange towards the head and bluish towards the tail and mid-body.
Monty is also very beautiful.

I picked up my Abbott’s from SMR as well. They have very nice orange ground color, and some of the Abbott’s have maroon or burgundy blotches instead of orange which really separates them from other Okeetees. Their black borders looks like my daughters first attempt to put on eye liner. She got a little TOO much on. LOL

Here is a couple of SMR photos of them.

1st, Costello is beautiful!!! 2nd What is an Abbott's Okeetee? And 3rd I know these pics aren't great, but doesn't Monty look a lot like Costello? I hope this link works! http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18369 I bought him as a normal, but now that I've seen a few normals I'm starting to wonder. Any thoughts?

I've looked a few times at the pics of your normal and I think it's just that.

I for one would be shocked if anyone was selling "Abbott Okeetees" as normals, or okeetees as normals. Some normals look okeetee-ish, but normals rarely develop the big black borders that the okeetees have become so well known for.

Nice normal, though.

Joejr14, thanks for your input. I have thought it was interesting that Monty is only orange towards his head and then turns a gray/tan color about 1/4 of the way down. So when I saw Costello was like that too it made me wonder. Is it just because they are hatchlings? The pics of the gorgeous adult Abbott's okeetees are much oranger than Costello and Monty. All the photos I've seen of normals don't look a lot like Monty to me, however if he oranges up a lot as he grows then he might look more like that. Now that I know what an Abbott's okeetee is, I don't think he is one. I just thought the color similarity was striking.

It's kind of funny, really, before I saw Monty I'd never even heard of a corn snake. I was just standing in the reptile section of a local pet store, the salesperson brought him out, and it was love at first sight! LOL Now I didn't buy him then, I came home and discussed it with my family (the kids were thrilled!) and did a lot of research before I got him. But I really didn't, nor do I now, know much about colors. I guess I could study corn snake morphs for years before I really felt confident saying what color a snake is. The pet store told me he came from a local breeder (?) so it's possible that he's not a normal and no one at the pet store is an expert in corn morphs. Unlikely tho possible. It's also possible that he's not really a boy! :shrugs:

Whatever Monty is, we love him. I don't think he's any less interesting or beautiful than some of the more exotic/extreme colors. I realized after I posted to this thread that it might sound like I was hoping Monty was something he's not, and I don't, really I'm just trying to learn more, having jumped into the confusing world of trying to understand all they different types of corns that are out there.

Yeah I think it is just because they are hatchlings.Charcoal hatchlings seem to have that gray/bluish color as well.

Okeetee's are normals. They are just locality normals that happen to have a distinct coloration in that area. Regardless, they are still normal colored snakes.

Some pics of Costello eating.
