Looking left.

I am purple and have some striping on my neck!

I can't believe it, the first hatchling of the year is a Striped Lavender!

An Adventurer

These guys started hatching last night. The Striped Lavender above has decided that he likes it in his shell, but this one came out to explore the world this morning while he absorbed his egg yoke. You can see a sibling Striped Lavender still in the egg on the bottom right of the photo.

It looks like there are six Striped Lavenders in the clutch, which is not too bad out of 17 eggs. The breeding was a Striped Lavender possible het for amel bred to a Normal het Striped Opal. There were no “white” snakes in this clutch so it appears that the Striped Lavender male is not het for amel, but I wouldn’t count him out just yet. I have seen worse odds.

There was only one normal Striped in the clutch, and the rest of the clutch was split equally between Lavenders and Normals, which are all het for Striped Lavender! Thank GOD!, no possible hets in this clutch, except they are all possible hets for amel, which I can live with.
:D

I can’t wait for this one to come out. It appears to have bold striping with a lot of pink colorations as well.

LOL, looks like someone got very impatient to see what they got. ;)

I cut all of my eggs open, even normal corns as soon as I see one nose poking out. Over the years I have had too many die in the egg after a few have slit, so they all get a way out now. I started doing this many years ago (About 15) when I was breeding Albino Burmese Pythons.

I don't know for sure if I have ever saved any that would have otherwise died in the egg, but I can't say that I have ever hurt any of them either. About the only full term dead in the egg, corns I find now are when entire clutches don't pip. This is so heart breaking after all of the effort that has gone into producing them, that I just don't take that chance any more.

There is a little technique to it, but generally you can get the egg open without cutting too many blood vessels. It is fun, when the clutch is of mixed morphs like this one is, but that is not why I do it.

Thanks!

Awesome pics Joe!

Don't you just love it when a project comes togehter like that? :D

It sure is nice to finally get to the point in this project where I am using Adult Striped Lavenders instead of breeding hets together. I don’t think some people realize how frustrating it can be to hatch out an entire clutch of possible hets and not get a single morph that you were hoping for. I have seen enough possible hets to last me a life time all ready.

I am a gluten for punishment I guess so, I have started a few other projects. I will have to wade through all of the possible hets again, but the challenge is what make the journey worth it and so rewarding in the end.

Seeing yours makes me want next season to come like TOMMORROW!

Don't you mean like yesterday!

I have a feeling that I am going to see some interesting things from this project this year. I already have another "Sunset" Lavender that is totally pink and a very odd lavender, or at least I think it is a lavender. At first I thought it was a normal without any black, but it appears to be a lavender that is dark purple or a purple/maroon color?

I tried to get a photo of him, but you know how that goes. He or she is on the top. A normal is on the left and a Lavender is on the right. He doesn't look much like either one of them. He has to be just a very dark Lavender.

great!!

6/17 are striped lavenders~!!
I'd say that it is a great ratio and the last one that is still in the egg looks awesome~!!

Hope to see that little one soon~~

Send me a couple of them~
I'll keep them for you~~

For you Simon, but if I send them to you, you would hold them and kiss them so much that you would kiss all of the striping off.

This normal is Bald too!

Just kidding. Last night the box was getting a little too dry from looking at them so much so I added some water. I guess I added a little too much water and they were rooting around in it and got Perilite stuck to there heads.

It had me going for awhile, but it wipes off. It looks a lot like the Bald heads in Bloods at first.

Joe,

True....I guess I really would kiss all the stripings off....but hey I hope that I wont kiss the genes off the snake too....lol....
they are such pretty snakes~~

Hey if you really did get the bloodred gene in it that would be perfect~!!

Striped Lavender Bloodred~!!!!
That would be sweet!!!!!

Oh well....at least its a good dream for now. Better than nothing. But in a few years I can already foresee the project coming out~!

A second clutch of Striped Lavenders has started to hatch. The male I used for this clutch was "Casper" my hypoish looking Lavender which was possible het for Striped and amel. It appears that there is another hypoish looking Lavender in the clutch.

He is het for Striped!

He is het Amel too!

I thought this Amel Striped was a Striped Opal when she was in the egg. With her white face and overall pale color she looked like a bright pink Striped Opal in the egg. Oh well, she is het for Opal which is nice and a girl! Casper is het for Striped Opal which is also very nice!

Casper’s belly has a striped down the middle, like the suspected co-dominant out crossed Bloods. I wonder, if the Striped Belly may show us clues for hets for striped as well. About 2/3’s of the possible hets for striped that I have, have a stripe down the middle of their bellies. Most of them produced, so it will be interesting to compare the ones that turn out to be het for striped with the ones that have a stripe down the middle of their belly.

My first Striped Opal of the year.

It seems to have some color, even at this young age.
