1st feed Question?

I just picked up an 06' Lavender male from local show on Sat.
not sure how old he is but he is over 2 feet and thicker than a quarter.

The Girl I bought him from said he was on Medium F/T mice

So I defrost the mouse by putting him directly in warm water (not in a bag) :headbang:

and pesent it to the snake wet. He seem very interestd in it but he looked confused. I walked away for less than 5 minutes and the mouse was gone.

However I do not see a buldge in the snake, should I offer him another Med. mouse, or wait a few days, or a week?

Firstly congrats on your new snake! :) He sounds lovely! (Would love to see pics!)

I would say he is most likely to be a yearling as this is your breeding season now and he is far to big to be a hatchling and far too small to be a 2yo. You can't really tell by size though but that would be my guess! lol

Sometimes they can be a big vague as to what exactly they are supposed to do with the mouse, but sounds like your boy ate it anyway! lol

General rule of thumb is to feed prey that are not more than 1.5 times the snake's diameter. Considering his size, I would not offer another mouse so soon, maybe in 6-7days.

Do you weigh your prey and snake before feeding? Try finding the Munson Plan on this forum, it is awesome and will indicate the exact correct size of prey for your snakes weight. :) It helped me alot and they grow really well on it!

Thanks

My Error

He is an 05' and I have not weighed him yet.
I did find an 06' Female Lav. but she is so much smaller I dont know if I could get her big enough to breed in a couple years, I fear the male will be to big?
could this be dangerous to the female?

As long as the female is big enough to breed, there shouldn't be problems if the male is bigger I think. :) The female must just be the right size and weight for breeding.
