2012 breeding thread

Only a little clutch from Faith, these plus 4 slugs. She ate a hopper right away and hasn't lost much weight at all. I'll see if she will breed again after her postlay shed

Nice Janine! Those look like pearly whites too. Grats on all of the eggs this year! My girls shed a few days ago and still don't feel like laying. :(
Only 1 for me so far. I hope you have great clutches this year!

Thanks Tara. Annie is blue, hopefully in her prelay shed. Sundance is still just rearranging the vermiculite, as are Polly and Silk. Silk had 2 slugs, but is holding on to the rest of the clutch and is huge, so I'm hopeful of a big clutch from her.
Dolly will be at least 2 weeks by my calculations and Lil has just hooked up with Norwood, so I should get a bit of space between clutches and then in between hatching..........but I'm trying not to count my snakes before they hatch!

Thanks Heather. Luckily I'm working tonight so I have no choice but to leave Kate in peace to lay without suffering from checkitis!

Hurrah! 20 lovely eggs from Kate, no slugs, and none retained.

Sundance is laying right now. Polly is in her laybox with that tale-tell triangle shape, Annie is in hers in blue. I have no idea what Silk is up to, nothing at all after those slugs and she's huge but not triangle-shaped yet

A wonderful 22 egg clutch from Sundance, who did not want me to take 'em away! I prefer to separate egg clumps, but these wouldn't come apart easily

Candled the eggs from Faith and Kate, and I see lots and lots of lovely veins! The 2 suspect eggs from Faith have none though, I'll give a few more days then discard them if I see nothing.......

Snakes don't follow your schedules, as we all know, so no more clutches laid yet. Silk is the most puzzling, after the slugs, nothing at all. She's in her laybox, I get excited, she's out of there and I check...........nothing! I can see inside there without even lifting her tub lid, even so I'm only checking once a day so as not to disturb her.
Faith's suspect eggs are getting a bit funky, so I'll discard them. So far that means only 3 eggs for my Christmas blood project, unless Silk comes up with the goods. Always the way!

15 good eggs from Annie, 1 maybe slug

Not much hope for any upper keys babies. Dolly laid this clutch under her water bowl instead of in her laybox

Dolly's clutch smells funky, I'll persist for a while and see what happens. But........Polly and Belle are both busy laying right now!

Oh joy! Some of the dehydrated keys clutch have plumped up and have veins! I can't separate the clutch but nothing has gone funky and thanks to DE I haven't had any phorid fly troubles at all :dancer:
