2013 Coral Snow X RF Tessera het Cayenne Fire progression

Thanks! So the results were well within the range of what you'd expect for a dominant gene. Your red factor tessera (all the animals, really) is stunning.

Thank you!
I am regretting not keeping my RF Tessera female, but hopefully this next year I will make more. :)

Given how red your RF animals are, it will be great to see supers.
If one of the pairings I have planned for next year works out, I *believe* I should have supers.
I have a Cayenne Fire female on loan.
I do not know if there are RF Cayennes and RC Cayennes (I'm guessing there would be both versions). If she is a RF Cayenne, like Cinaed's dam was, then I should get supers.

Cinaed was listed as a Tessera het Cayenne Fire. As he grew up, I started to think that maybe he was a Cayenne Fire Tessera. In talking with John, I found out for sure that he wasn't, and then realized that he was Red Factor het Fire.
The Cayenne Fire that he came from was RF.
I am sure there has to be RC Cayenne Fires out there as well, which would make any outcrossed babies het Cayenne Fire. So many possibilites out there! LOL

I was planning on getting out of the RF project stuff, but I still want to see what it can do, so I will hang onto it for a few years. :)

I hope you decide to stick with it. I am not sure that my SK is red factor or redcoat, but next year I'll be getting some cayenne fires from Don, hopefully from the South African line. Although I don't know if what makes the South African line so red is red factor, or something else entirely, I'll have to talk to Don about any results he might have with those.

Thank you! That's an exciting project!

I have picked up a couple babies to work into the RF projects. One is a SK Fire, another is a Fire Motley ph SK.

I'd love to see those babies! That's a great choice for a RF project. I know you like SK and cinder, did you by chance see the sunkissed cinder tessera someone posted in the photo gallery?

You know, stupid me was telling you I didn't have any confirmed red factor in my collection, yet I have a salmon snow and salmon ghost 66% ph amel giving me hungry eyes right now. The ghost has a pink wash over her entire belly, and is presumably red factor. So maybe I will pair her with something that isn't anery, and maybe not amel either. Perhaps my ERO male? Steve is making redcoat ones, so I guess that result will inform my decision. Given how pretty both your normal and amel red factors are, I would love to see it combined with ultramel.

I think that is a great idea!

I'm really curious about different versions of reds (RF Cayenne Fire's vs RC Cayenne Fires, etc.)

I also forgot about a gendered pair of snows I have, that are very pink. They were sold to me as "coral" snows, but I have another female coral snow that looks more like your SMR one, with pink saddles but paler ground color. I suspect my two with pink ground color are red factor, whereas the female coral is not. So maybe red factor is more prevalent in my collection than I thought? I'll have to check their bellies when I get home, as I haven't paid any attention to whether they were pink. I did take this pic of the male suspected RF though, in the sun the other day. It's a crappy pic that washes him out (his borders are bluish green, not white) but you get the idea.

Very hyper RF snow?

So many test breedings to think about, now!

I think you're right. I do not think that is a Coral Snow, I think there is RF or RC involved (my guess would be RF).
Picture that, in Tessera form.
That is one of my projects I tried this year, but didn't get any eggs (I think a combo of the male being too young, and I wasn't consistent with pairing, due to my back issues).

I will be trying again next year.

I had already planned to pair him (Brainiac) with Alaska, snow tessera het hypo (possible homo hypo) when they are old enough. She has pinks showing through, and has one parent from salmon lines, but she doesn't strike me as being RF. Too bad corns don't breed as young as mice.

Brainiac is in shed, but I could see little pink speckles on his belly. My coral snow female with pale ground color did not have visible pink speckles on her belly.

Mastermind, a salmon snow male I got from Dave Partington, is a completely different color from Brainiac, and is more of an orangeish pink vs a hot pink. Maybe Brainiac is a red factor coral? Anyways, Mastermind has a salmon wash to his belly.

Very cool!

Looks like you might have some RF after all.
I look forward to seeing what you produce with those!

Sol (Sunglow Tessera), my keeper from the clutch.

I'm looking forward to the babies when he gets paired with the Coral Snow.
Being het Anery and poss het Bloodred, I should get a fun variety. :)

I am looking for a coral snow Tessera male 1-2 years old for a breeding idea. Does anyone here have one of these or someone who is breeding them?
