2014 Fire - Amalthea

Her mom was red factor, so I believe she is too. With that clutch, it was really easy to differentiate - either the babies were red or they were orange.

I wasn't sure if cayenne fire was an interchangeable term for red factor fire. Does that term also get used for red coat fires?

That's a good question. I had asked that question a while back, and no one had the answer. Don initially said that RF was what made the Cayenne, but I hadn't thought about asking about RF vs RC Fires, until later.
Also, he said the RF was what also made a Sunglow, vs just an Amel with little/no white borders.
But this was before it was really determined that RF and RC were separate genes. Back then, it was believed that RF and RC were the same, just called different names by different people.

Cinaed's Dam was a Cayenne Fire and Cinaed was listed as a normal Tessera het Cayenne Fire. Turned out he was RF. That was when I started thinking about the different lines of Cayenne (RF vs RC).

Do you have a baby picture of Cinaed? I can't remember if I've seen one. I have a hard time believing that anyone would mistake him for being a normal tessera! The dad to my current clutch was sold to me as red factor, and the mom is not. They definitely look different from each other, but he is not NEARLY as red as your RF. That might be why I'm having a hard time distinguishing my current babies.

I do! Here's Cinaed the day I got him, and a current pic of him.

In case anyone is curious, this is Amalthea's brother, Mango, who is a regular fire. He is owned by my younger sister. He was one of the least red babies, so he is definitely not red factor. I had a really hard time taking a photo of him that didn't make him look like he was glowing, but these are pretty close to true to life color.

And here he was as a baby:
