3 thermometers 3 different temps >.<

Hey - so as I am new and am still trying to get things right. A week or two ago I found out that my viv was way too hot so I found out what I needed to do. I ordered a UTH, thermostat, and a couple digital thermometers.

Today I received my thermometers and have set them up to try them out. They were really cheap..... http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Thermometer-Aquarium-Freezer-14mm/dp/B005LFNI1W/ref=pd_ybh_1?pf_rd_p=280800601&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_i=ybh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1XMWA56VV4XBTM8W98YE
Anyway - the radial thermometer says 83F - and the digital says 73.5F hot side and 65.1F cold side - while the digital thermometer I use for cooking says 79F hot side....

Which could possibly be right? I don't think the temps are dangerously too low - it's better than the 100+ degrees it was previously. Can anyone suggest some digital thermometers that they haven't had an issue with?

Radial one's are really inaccurate.
The cooking one is probably inaccurate by either those low temperatures or because it's not used like it should.
So i would go with the digital one with probe who is designed for this.

I actually use two similar ones and they are just as accurate as my really expensive one.

Make sure the probes are directly on the UTH. You don't wanna measure the air temperature because your corn isn't up there most of the time. And you wanna measure under the substrate because you don't want him to dig in and overheat or even burn himself.

Zakel2 - to check the accuracy of a T-stat or T-meter all you got to do is get a glass of ice water with lots of ice. Place probe in the middle of the ice it will read 32 to 34 degrees fahrenheit. Most T-meter will read 33 degrees fahrenheit if the probe is next to all the ice.

Please remember most T-meters have an accuracy of +- 1 degree fahrenheit.
