You made a really nice job of that..

QUESTION- Aren't your boys avid snake collectors?
MIKE
Thanks! I wouldn't pay me for this construction!
My boys like the snakes, but it's actually Norwood my anery that they've claimed as 'theirs', as in he's the one they always ask to handle because he's such a calm and easy going chap. If I'm away it's my youngest who will feed the snakes if needed, he's the proud owner of a blizzard leopard gecko, golden treefrog, cockateil and rescued (by him) cat, and temporarily, the squabs. The middle boy has claimed Bob the fostercat, the eldest owns a marbled mantis.
While they were little I've had giant african landsnails, stick insects , a canary and degus, bred guineapigs, guppies and gerbils, so they've always been brought up with a menagerie. I'd be surprised if any of them end up in pet-free homes when they fly the nest!

Wow Janine! That thing is a skyscraper. Your building penthouses for your snakes.
Starts singing the "Jefferson's" theme song - "Well we movin' on up (movin' on up) ...... To the east side ........ To a deluxe apartment in the sskkyyyyy ........................."
Jay

It's also cat-proof! Ralph the rescue cat climbed to get on the top shelf, not a wobble!

Passed the first test! Nice condo, Janine. I wouldn't dare suggest to my wife bringing the thing I cobbled together (brad guns are waaay faster than screws, but not as sturdy construction) upstairs. Maybe with some wood filler and paint on the frame, though.

I'm thinking I may decide to box the sides to make it a little more aesthetically pleasing, but I used the left-over ply to put a back on a pine bookshelf that's always suffered from escaping books! So I'll look at what the lumber yard has in thin sheets, although looking at the options, cladding may give a better finish. I'll probably wait until it gets warmer so I can stack the snakes while I do the job without them needing supplemental heating. (In this country, that'll be about 4 random days in the 'summer')
