A Bloodred Snow

DragonBoy

Crazy Cornsnake Breeder
I went looking for info on this but have not been successful. Is this morph called something else?
I have a pippie that is almost transparent with a snow type pattern. Have not been able to get a pic but will post one when it is out of the egg.
Dad is a multi het amel and mom is a multi het anery.
Genetic Wizard said I could get a motley diffused hypo snow. was thinking this is it. But I cannot find a reference pic for a diffused snow anyplace...
anyone got a pic or a description?
Adding these pics from part way out of egg...these do not do the color justice.

You call them absolutely gorgeous! The head pattern on that guy is awesome: love the heart shape on his neck.

Thanks. The eggs from this clutch were all weird almost clear. Did not think they would hatch and several did fail but today was day 67 and out it pipped. Now for the other 7 remaining eggs I think are viable only time will tell.

If he's a motley avalanche, you can't say for sure he's homo bloodred unless both parents are homo bloodred. If he had a normal pattern (not motley) and no belly checks, then he's an avalanche.

Those have to be some of the worst looking eggs ever! Glad you're getting at least one pippy so far!!

Hmmm hard to tell so far as to what it might be other than snow. Snow mot perhaps? Get a picture once it's all the way out and maybe it'll be easier to tell. Sure is a lovely little thing though. :)

I never expected even one to hatch but they had veins visible to the naked eye so I just could not throw them out. Now I am glad I did not.

Oh yeah...Mom and Dad are both het bloodred.

wow, those eggs certainly hung in there lol.. they look terrible. glad to see something made it

This is one of those clutches where I wanted to chuck em all in the dust bin and start over next year but I saw veins from the day they were laid and I have watched them expand and go more opaque as time went on. If I only get one it was worth it. Looks like I might just get a few more. Only time will tell.

Since both parents are het for blood, then he could be a motley blood. So you can't say for sure he's not a motley blood - though if both were homo blood then you'd know for sure. The only way to tell is to breed him against something that is a known carrier for diffused - preferable a homo blood animal.

If you get all bloods - then you know its a blood motley, if you got only some bloods, then you'd know he was het. If none, then unlikely he's not het, unless you just had terrible odds and/or a small clutch.

Well, Scott, you got some great advise so far!

Your lil one is at least a Snow Motley, but could be a Hypo Snow Motley or if Murphy was good to you...an Avalanche Motley.

Simon has produced Avalanches with Toni and Avalanche Stripes with Ruby!

Becky has or had a female avalanche from Toni, Eli has an adult avalanche female from Toni as well. I have the two possible avalanche stripes here!

GodBlessYaMan for not chuckin um'!!! Hope the rest hatch! Can't wait to see this baby out of the egg! I have a Snow Motley & so far it looks like my girl when she was a tiny toot! Congrats!!!!

well I guess we will never know at this point. I found the little one dead in the next box about 3/4 of the way out of the egg. All I could tell was that on the way out of the egg the belly button pulled the guts out. It was pretty gross to say the least so I did not take pictures. My hope is that one of the other eggs will pip yet. This almost reminded me of my days breeding painted horses. Every now and then we would get what was called a lethal white. A beautiful solid white blue eyed baby that if born alive always died within hours of birth. Never understood them but it makes me wonder if there is not a similar trait in corns. Just a hypothesis. Another thought was maybe the translucence was a sign of prematurity. Alas we will never know.
Thanks all for the input.

Oh no...I'm so sorry...I hope it was just a terrible accident, not a deformity, and all the rest are just fine.

Oh no! I am so sorry! I can tell you, though, that if snakes are like mammals, it's not genetic, so there is hope for the others!
