This is Tyga aka Mr.cat aka The king .
aaavant.jpg
all you need to know about him .
My name is Tyga im 3 years old i weight 20lb .
I am pretty lazy but love to play from time to time , i deeply love my female owner and only go see the male one if shes not there.
I like basking in the sunlight near the windows.
I am a pretty good spider hunter i mean i can spot them from almost anywhere but never managed to kill one.
I will eat anything and i really mean anything(cheese, fruit, vegetable, meat, rice, ant, fly, plastic, tape, string, screw, nail, wood, cardboard, paper) but my favorite is POPCORN I LOVE POPCORN OH GOD WHAT COULD I DO FOR POPCORN!!!!

There his story : On the Thursday 17 November 2011 we noticed that he was acting strange he vomited 3 times that night but we didn't see anything wrong since he always eat anything .
On Friday we see that hes not feeling well from i say 8 am to 9 pm he didn't eat anything or drink, vomited 14 time that day since he wasn't doing really well we decided to bring him to the vet at midnight on a Friday....I don't know about you but i live in Québec normal vet are close at 9p.m and are not open the weekend so we brought him to a clinic that's open only at night and weekend.
My girlfriend was hysterical that her cat might die,she had a couple beer and couldn't drive to the vet and i don't have my driver license so... at midnight i call my father (i am 25 years old by the way) tell him that we NEED to get to the vet ASAP 10 minutes later my father at my appartment with my mother and there we go to the vet.

First trip to the vet 18/11/11 : We called before going so they expected us.Everything cost nearly double the price of a normal vet.
The vet immediately take Mr.cat and weight him at 17 lb ,tell us that hes starting to get dehydrated ,has vomit all over the face ask us what happened.
We told her his symptom and thought that he had eaten Styrofoam (we received new furniture 2 weeks before that and there was still some foam in a room)She looked inside his mouth and did all sort of thing only to see that he had pain near his stomach.
After talking for 10 minutes she tell us that we should take some x-ray to see if we can see whats happening inside his belly.
After the x-ray she cant see anything wrong inside the only weird thing is his intestine are doing a weird 90 degree angle like it was constricting on something but nothing more.
We had 2 choice go home with him or get a surgery to see whats happening inside or bring him home and hope the medicament help him go better.
The surgery at like 1:30 a.m. would cost approximately 2500$$-3000$ so we brought Tyga home for the night. We didn't sleep well that night.
The cost of that vet trip was 473.84$

Second trip to the vet 19/11/11 : Tyga isn't doing better hasn't eaten or drank in 2 days he's a pitiful sight only good thing is he stopped vomiting we decide to go back to the vet at 2:00 p.m.
We get there the staff changed have to re explain whats happening the new vet recheck the x-ray and do all the tralala to Mr.cat only to finish looking in his mouth to see a little black sewing string rolled around his tongue so she immediately tell us that she can't pull it cause she could hurt him cause we didn't know the length of the string.
She gave him some tranquilizer and removed what she could 2 inch .
She told us that we needed to get him a surgery cause we didn't know the damage the string could do,but we couldn't afford a 2500$ surgery so she told us to wait and hope he would make it to Monday and go to a regular clinic.
They hydrated him via i don't know what and we brought home a little sick kitty with some medicine.
That trip cost 150.87$

home Sunday 20/11/11 : Mr.cat isn't doing any better he stay hidden the whole time if we get any close he move away, hasn't eaten or drank since at least Thursday night.
Only thing we could do is give him his medicine (some kind of liquid ) to protect his stomach and a lot of Vaseline to hope the string can pass through.
He went to pee twice that day and i will always remember that smell it was so acid.

home Monday morning 21/11/11 :7:00 a.m. he's still alive I wasn't working that day, I'm in front of the phone waiting for the vet clinic to open at 8:00a.m.
8:02a.m. i call the closest clinic to ask them if they have room for my kitty cat ,explain what happened again, tell them that i need a surgery done TODAY.
While i wait on the phone to get a reply 5 minutes later she come back telling me that the surgeon has already 7 surgery that day but will do all he can do to make that surgery on Tyga.
I get an appointment at 10:30 a.m. It's cold outside the clinic is at 20 minutes walk so i call my girlfriend sister to get a lift.
10:45 a.m. i enter the vet cabinet she examine poor Mr.cat once more weight at 14.5 lb look at the x-ray we took from the other clinic and then take him away....i walked home sad and confused about what would happen to him.
They told me that they would call us when he would wake up from the surgery.
6:45p.m. we get a call from the surgeon that he just finished the operation that started at 2:15p.m. everything went fine but he has not woken up yet and they would call us when he wake up.
9:15 p.m. phone ring the lady that stay there at night call, tell us that he has just woken up still feeling dizzy but looking well. She set him up on a heat pad cause his temperature was starting to drop.
The operation cost 1229.83$$

Tuesday 22/11/11 : We get a call that he's doing well moving in his cage but still hasn't eaten or drank but we could go pick him up at 6:00p.m.
We get there as soon as we enter the clinic the surgeon is there and bring us to his cabinet.
He then tell us that he did 7 incision in his intestine //stomach to remove all the string he could .The string started from his stomach ALLLLL the way down to his rectum.
He removed over 3 meters of black string fil.JPG
It had started to get through the intestine he had no problem finding it.

7:00p.m. home with Tyga here he is back home

Wednesday 23/11/11 : i wake up and i see him drink water and eat a little... i cried of joy .After nearly a week he finally ate and drank.

Thursday 24/11/11 : I saw him go into his litter and poop there was over 5 meter of string in there that day... we never found out where he found it in the first place.

Yesterday 17/02/12 : there he is at 17.5 lb happy as ever with my girlfriend.
he's way more active sine the surgery he play more and is way more cuddly
But still eat anything that he find.

There was his story

To be continued.

What an ordeal! I would be a wreck if my cat was that sick, she is my baby. Im SO happy that they figured it out and he seems to be on the mend! Healing thoughts his way!

Quite a story, I'm really really glad that it ended well! Beautiful kitteh you have, hope he will be recovering fully and have many many good years with you.

I'm really hysterical about all strings and stuff like that, always keep them in closets nowhere near the cats, we have few months old kitteh who's eating everything he can find. :eatpointe Watching the kitty definitely tells from where comes saying "curiosity killed the cat". Also my oldest cat's sister died choking, when she had a string around his tongue, which even a vet couldn't find.

What a story!

I was on pins and needles wondering if it was going to be a sad or happy ending - so happy for the latter!

Whenever I use dental floss, I have to hide it deep in the garbage because the cats are so interested in playing with it. I really worry about them eating it if they find it. They love string, although I have never seen them try to eat it. I only keep one big piece on my desk for me to use as a toy with them. I hear so many stories of dogs eating weird things and needing surgery - much more so than cats. But now I will even be more paranoid than I already was about the little monsters getting into something they shouldn't!

the problem as the vet explained it is the sewing string is so thin that it get stuck in the little hook that cat have on their tongue so the only way to get
``free`` of it is to swallow.

We are now paranoid but found a way to keep him away from those thing it works wonder we bought more toy so if hes bored or alone he has thing to do instead of finding thing to eat but we still catch him from time to time with thing we don't even know how he got them.

there he is at 5:30 a.m. with Vorenus
that snake never ever come out when i am around but if the cat is solo with him he comes out and have stare contest....

Great story, I was at the edge of my charir wanting to know how it ended, it ended good. *YAY*

(By the way, I have a snake called Vorenus too, after the guy from the Rome series)
