A pair of amels... one is SUPER odd.

Call me Matt...
Here's some pics of a holdback pair of amels, from a clutch I hatched from a friend... I had no intentions of keeping any, but after this male hatched out, I had to keep at least a pair.

First is the male... who is an odd duck. When he hatched out, and after his first shed, he was mind blowing for an amel. Here's those pics:

Then, after a few months, he's colored up to this:

His reds ain't red... they are very "tangerinish"... a real funky orangy-red. Not what I thought he was gonna be, but still pretty cool.

Anyhow, since I kept a male (which is the opposite of what I try to do) I had to keep a female to balance it out... she's got a nice RO look going on, so she'll be neat to breed down the road for some show fodder.

Here's her pics:

OH yeah, still havent named them, so suggestions are welcome.

Ooooh...too bad the male decided to develop orange saddles after all. He would've been one wicked high white RO with those all white saddles! Oh well, he's cute anyway. :)
And the female is a veeeeeeery beautiful RO. Lovely.
Good luck with the future project. ;)

Pretty pretty babies! I don't care if they're "low end" morphs, amels are beautiful, and these two are no exception! The oddball is just so COOL!

I think they are great. There are some high end gentic makeups dont look near as good as these in my opinion. Good Amels are just hard to beat.

Years ago I had several like that oddball hatch out of my Amelanistic Okeetee line. I sure got all excited about it. But after about four sheds, all the ground color filled in and I couldn't tell them from the regular Amel Okeetees.

I hope your results will be different, but I've heard of several other people experiencing the same exact thing that I mentioned above.

Beautiful! Can't wait to see what they look like after some more sheds!

Name ideas:
Grapefruit and Tangerine
Sunset/Sunrise
Flash and Wonder Woman ;D

Sometimes amels will take a bit longer to get their colors, I don't know why, but it happens.. They are beautiful though...
