A Rare Post from me.. A Cat!

Okay, so here is the deal. As most of you who know me know..I am not a big fan of cats. Although, I do live with a few people who like cats. I get the snakes, they can have a cat or two.

Anyway, this is the only cat from my household that I respect. We actually have a bond. This is her story..

About a 8 months ago we had a very bad hail storm. Large chunks of hail, tornadoes, etc. We had 4,500.00 worth of damage to the cars, and over 10,000 to the house. This cat was a stray that took refuge under our deck during the storm. She would constantly stay there everyday, and would only leave to go find food. I finally felt my natural help a animal heart kick in, and had to bring her in. I kept her in the bathroom for a day and scheduled a vet appointment the next day.

She was extremely friendly, and loved the kids. I couldn't see why she would not have a home. Got her into the vet, got numerous tests done, and these were the results. She was a she, that had been previously spayed, and had no illnesses, parasites, or anything else that a cat could possibly have wrong with it. She was 110% healthy. She moved really fast at anything that was crawling, such as the dogs, and stuff. She gets scared of barking, loud noises, and people she is unfamiliar with, which suggests that she lived outside for most of her life.

We put up signs and ads saying we found this cat and would love to return her to her proper home. Three months later we had no phone call, or email, and decided that we would keep this cat.

She has since packed on a good bit of weight, and still goes outside everyday through the doggie door we have setup. She comes back in at night to eat, rest, and play. Shes the only cat that I like.

Sorry for writing a novel, so here is pictures of "Shadow".

She's cute! The cat that permanently changed me from a dog person to a cat person was a stray who wouldn't leave. I took her in to be spayed, when it became apparent that she wasn't leaving, and the vet was like, had this cat long? She was already spayed, but had a piece of ovary left that was causing her to go into psycho yowling heat.

:D such a cute cat

I more of a cat person than a dog person...although now i have my snake, my cat is my favorite pet since the 14 years ive had him :)

I've always been a dog person. But always wanted a cat. so when I got married that was the first thing I did was get a cat.

I know have one in the apartment that I rescued 2 years ago. There are some cats that are more doglike, which luckily most of mine have been.

What a great story. Don't know how anyone can just let an animal of thier's out like that. Thanks for giving her a home.

I'm glad she's found somewhere she's wanted and loved :) A house is not a home without plenty of cat fur!

My mom was never a cat person, either, and she hated cats until she passed away. But, when I was 1 and a half years old, my neighbor's kid had a kitten that he beat the crap out of ALL the time. He used this poor thing as baseball, a soccer ball, whatever the kid decided. The parents did nothing about it, they didnt care! So one day, the cat found it's way onto our door step, and we decided to take it in, get it healthy, and then find it a good home. They ended up taking us to small claims court 3 times because we "stole their cat". What they didnt realize was that you cant legally own a cat in Arizona with out signed papers... so the judge signed the papers and we had him for 20 years. He just recently passed away from old age.

I wish you and Shadow the best of luck, and a long and healthy life together. Rescued cats that have been through a horrible situation are the best kind. :)
