About South Mountain Reptiles

I've got one from Don, an Amel Bloodred.. She's very pretty and loves to eat mice.. She's definately the least shy corn I have about eating- taking her food from my hand without hesitation. No complaints from me!

I just got 2 banded Okeetees from Don.I bought them without seeing them first.I couldn't be much happier with what he sent, they look AWESOME! He's a great guy to deal with.We had a few laughs, joking around in our emails.I'll be buying some more from him next year, for sure.I also got a couple from Lee earlier this year.Same story AWESOME animals and a great guy to deal with.I'll be getting more from him also.

He's The MAN!

Don has got to be one of the nicest guys I have ever dealt with. From the first time I ever did business with him, I was a loyal customer. I called to order some snakes and then ended up gabbing about corns for half an hour. He is more than happy to answer any questions you might have and he will treat you fairly and honestly. My first order got delayed by a few weeks on his end and He MORE than made things right! As for the quality of his animals, I have no corns that grow as fast and are as robust and healthy as the ones I have gotten from Don. Not only that, but the snakes he has sent me are always shining examples of the morphs they represent. At this point, almost half of my collection is made up of Don's snakes. I can also honestly say that I plan on shopping elsewhere ONLY if Don doesn't have the morph I am looking for. What else can you say...He gets an A+ from me.

Scott

Don produces thousands of snakes. He told me recently that he had about 4,000. Even so, he always takes the time to answer questions and return messages.

That was one of the things that really impressed me about Don as well. He was not just about getting my money and giving me a snake. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel confident about my purchase. The snake I bought from SMR is the only one I've bought sight unseen. I have a little Caramel Motley female from him. She's a beautiful example of her morph. Don gave me a physical description of what his babies looked like, and said that their patterns were all similar. I'm willing to bet that you could describe what you're looking for in a morph and Don would be willing to pick something out for you. I'm also impressed that I was able to buy a lone female.

So, another thumbs way up!

I've been looking for Anery Hurricane Motley for over two months (locally) and then finally decided to give the internet a try, that's when I came across South Mountain Reptiles. It was unbelievable when I saw the picture on their available list! And some other morphs look gorgeous too...so I might end up with a lot more than I was planning on getting :p
Although I would have to wait til I get the heater for the house working again and the rack order from BoaPhile.

Just thought I would add my kudos to Don as well.
I met him at a show and although he didn't have any of the "morph" (I don't know what else to call an okeetee. lol) I wanted left, we still ended up chatting for a while about corns. Not to mention, he recommended the people I ended up buying from. That alone tells me that he's not just about making sales. He really does want you to end up with the best example of whatever morph you're looking for.

Another thing that I loved about him is that he didn't "talk down" to me. I'm 16 and most people there treated me as if I didn't know anything about snakes. Don treated me as another corn enthusiast.

Anywho, I'll stop rambling. I just have a lot of respect for Don and wanted to share my great experience with him.

I have known Don for years, and have some of his stock in my own collection. You are guaranteed to be happy with whatever you get from him - he will make sure of that! I have never, ever, heard a customer complain about anything from him, either. In fact, they often rave about his customer service and patience in helping answer questions. How much better can you do than that?

As for photos, I started taking them because many customers really like them, and I have recently cut back on the number of babies I produce, allowing me to photo some of them. And for pattern traits, the photos are useful. But most customers are buying mostly for color. And I have to say that in my opinion, baby photos are totally useless when trying to pick out the best baby "color - wise." Serious customers buying breeding stock usually disregard the photos and tell me to choose what I think will be the best adult according to what I would choose for myself, based on my own experience. I am sure that is what Don does, since he has too many for individual photos. But - since customers like photos, I try to provide them when I can, regardless of my own opinion of their usefulness.

South Mountain!

Don has great animals and is always willing to spend his time talking and sharing his experiences with snakes with anyone who asks!

My wife just bought a Wonderful snake from Don. This was our first time dealing with him and I would like to add to everyones good words for him. He took the time to send pic to my wife and explain about the snakes backround. Also with the fires here in San Diego. We had to delay him shipping the baby. He was great. I hope in the future to be able to buy many more corns from Don and I woould trust his opinion.

Thanks Don, the baby is a beautiful. Also I love the new book

Me and my friend both bought snakes their both amazing, beautiful, healthy snakes. :) you should have no problem at all. I bought a Motley and My friend bought a Okeetee.

Some of his stock has even reached South Africa.. Chantel ( I think she is a member here), imported some and now alot of us have our own SMR stock snakies
