Am I doing the genetics right on my 3 pairs?

LauRuffian

Perpetual Newbie
Even though the corn snake calculator is pretty straightforward to use, I still have quite the rudimentary understanding of genetics and am still *quite* capable of making mistakes. ;) Am I understanding the genetics of my crosses correctly? (Pics included, because, yay pics!)

First pair (eggs incubating now, whee!):
Hypo vanishing stripe het lavender male X lavender Aztec het hypo het stripe female

Possible phenotype outcomes (genotype identical):

1 / 8 Stripe het Lavender, Hypo
1 / 8 Lavender het Stripe, Hypo
1 / 8 Normal het Lavender, Stripe, Hypo
1 / 8 Hypo het Lavender, Stripe
1 / 8 Lavender, Stripe het Hypo
1 / 8 Hypo, Stripe het Lavender
1 / 8 Hypo Lavender ( Hypo, Lavender ) het Stripe
1 / 8 Hypo Lavender, Stripe ( Hypo, Lavender, Stripe )

Second pair:
Ghost stripe male het 66% amel, dilute x ghost female het amel, 50% het motley

Possible outcomes (this is assuming the 66% and 50% come through--so best possible outcomes):3 / 8 Ghost ( Anery, Hypo ) het Stripe 66% poss het. Amel 50% poss het. Dilute
1 / 8 Coral Snow ( Amel, Anery, Hypo ) het Stripe 50% poss het. Dilute
3 / 8 Ghost, Motley ( Anery, Hypo, Motley ) het Stripe 66% poss het. Amel 50% poss het. Dilute
1 / 8 Coral Snow, Motley ( Amel, Anery, Hypo, Motley ) het Stripe 50% poss het. Dilute

Genotype:

1 / 16 Anery, Hypo het Stripe
1 / 8 Anery, Hypo het Amel, Stripe
1 / 16 Anery, Hypo het Dilute, Stripe
1 / 8 Anery, Hypo het Amel, Dilute, Stripe
1 / 16 Anery, Hypo, Motley het Stripe
1 / 8 Anery, Hypo, Motley het Amel, Stripe
1 / 16 Anery, Hypo, Motley het Dilute, Stripe
1 / 8 Anery, Hypo, Motley het Amel, Dilute, Stripe
1 / 16 Amel, Anery, Hypo het Stripe
1 / 16 Amel, Anery, Hypo het Dilute, Stripe
1 / 16 Amel, Anery, Hypo, Motley het Stripe
1 / 16 Amel, Anery, Hypo, Motley het Dilute, Stripe

Third pair:
Charcoal male het bloodred, amel, pied (well, had 2 pied parents) x
Normal female het charcoal, bloodred, pied (well, had 2 pied parents)

1 / 16 Charcoal, Diffused het Amel
1 / 16 Amel, Charcoal het Diffused
1 / 32 Amel, Diffused het Charcoal
1 / 32 Amel, Charcoal, Diffused

How'd I do? :)

What do you mean the charcoal and normal had 2 pied parents? If the parents were pied, the parents were diffused and all the offspring should be diffused as well, but your two snakes are not.

FTR, the hets on the new pairs are described here exactly as I got them from the seller (except for the part where I added my assumption there were two pied parents--seller just said "het pied").

the ghosts with them only being possible hets i would class them as just ghosts and if anything else comes out then thats a a good thing and the poss hets then change to 100%
het

Awesome, thank you asnakecalled?. I suppose this is definitely the way to determine whether those hets are 100% or 0%, eh? ;) Can't wait to pair the new two.

I'm really hoping for that blizzard/whiteout--my oldest son has wanted one (like, really really really wanted one) since our first year of breeding. As the only possible outcomes then were normals and amels, he was disappointed. (Though he kept the sweeeeeetest amel het motley female from that clutch as his first pet. Who knows, maybe we could get him a blizzard/whiteout male for him for his own future breeding program.)

what the calculator spits out are the mathematical possibilities of what each egg might contain, but this does not always line up with what actually hatches.

a 100% het X a 100% het should produce around 25% of whatever the het is.
The babies from that pairing which are not the target will be 66.666666666% Possible Het.

Pied can be a bit troublesome in that it does not behave predictably. A pair of high expression parents does not always translate to all of the offspring being pied.

Nice looking genetic alignments. It will be interesting to see the outcomes/babies.
