Angry Red Hateling

Miss Ruby shed last night, and I couldn't find the tail tip of her shed, so I had to get her out for inspection. I only handle this baby for feedings, and she is never out in her viv. This is the best shot I could get of her dorsum- most of the time she was in a tight S and about to tip over backwards. With liberal strikes at the camera!

This is the first time I ever set her down without being held. I figured she'd be too busy trying to kill me to run away, and I was right. Still- I only took five pics- I didn't want to push my luck.

This is one snake that I don't kiss! I took at least ten bites- nice good strikes, too! Isn't she just adorable?? 14 grams!

Thanks for looking!

Well, they're really not very in focus, but that is difficult when she is striking at the camera. She's not really evil, she just wants to be left alone, and since I have plenty of snakes that don't want to be left alone I can honor her wishes!

LOL. We should introduce her to my little lavender corn. He's a hateling too. Those pics are too funny...it's so cute how they act all tough when they're tiny like that. :)

That's an awesome little cobra! I wonder what makes some little snakes more aggressive than others?

Nanci,

Just curious...does your camera have a red assist light that comes on when you take a picture? My Powershot2 had one and when I turned it off, Gailleann wasn't near as nasty about having her picture taken.

I think other than the second one, the blurr adds to the feel of the shot. I like them and her :)

I think it does, with some settings. But she starts biting the second I take her out of her viv and never stops. She even bites the hand that's holding her- that's unusual.

Well Nanci, you have handful there. Gooooood luck with that one but she is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute.

I've a brother of your striped blood and he is the devil... everytime when i open the box he bites me... but he is also awesome, like yours :crazy02:

It's about time for photos! I've been waiting a while to see this lil' "hateling" again.. I got bit by Spike yesterday and let me tell you- a bite from THAT won't come close so don't worry. LOL

She's a lovely little spitfire! Here's hoping she grows out of her 'tude, as it won't be nearly as cute and funny when she's 450 grams.
