:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

When I managed a Petco, those buggers actually irritated me with their screeching.

I loved the songs of the canaries, finches, budgies, and the squawking, guttoral sounds of the parrots. But the conures.....:smash:

LOL yep!! this is Exactly how I feel too LOL They were too loud to have out where I had some of my other birds.... they were in my bird room. When I got babies, I would have them sold before they were weaned and as soon as they were weaned, they were gone LOL I like all birds but the screaming they do is so hard on my ears.

Awww, surely not all conures are that bad? ;)

I have one green-cheek and he barely makes any noise, quietest bird EVER! The suns and jendays on the other hand, every time I meet one I wish I had ear plugs!

Gorgeous 'keet by the way, I think he/she is so cute!

All birds are different. You really need to know what you want from a bird, and what you can give back. For example...you can't really get a cockatoo unless you want another "mate" for the rest of your life. They are GREAT birds...but extremely "clingy" and needy towards their whole flock, not just one person. And LOUD!! Finches, canaries, doves...they don't need alot of attention, thrive in captivity with minimal care and "benign neglect", come in beautiful colors, and make great "low-maintenance" birds...or at least as low maintenance as you can get....and they are pretty quiet. And the different personalities run the gammut as much as people. Every species, and every individual within the species.

Thanks for the info, that was quite helpful. :)

Dusky headed and Green cheek conures seem to be the quietest in my experience. Nanday, Jenday, Sun...loud little buggers...and the shrieks are extremely piercing. Suns are the worst, IMO. But green cheek and dusky headed conures seem to be very reasonably quiet...

I wanted a Sun because they were so bright, but ended up with a Quaker, let's talk about personality. Princess (like Zayne, my Daughter decided the bird was a female and so named it) had tons more personality than the Grey I had at the same time. Princess also started talking before the Grey did. That I wasn't expecting. She tells you when to put her to bed... nitenitenitenitenite... you have to put a black sheet over her to shut her up. She'll call to the cats... "Here kitty kitty." Silly things have come to her and gotten bitten on the nose :)

I called her Pretty girl one day and she came back with Pretty, pretty girl.. guess she's prettier than pretty :)

The also weird thing about her was that she looooooooved BBQ chix. You'd come into the door with it and she's start squawking until she got some of it.

I'm sure that Zayne and her Budgie will have loads of fun together. :)
