Prompted by Dale's post on Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
And being a huge fan of the overlooked unsung hero.
Veteran character actor and fellow New Jersian, Roscoe Lee Browne succombed to cancer early Wednesday at 81.
I can't begin to name the shows and movies this man has been in.
He's the guy you've seen a thousand times but never knew his name.
And the voice, as strong as James Earl Jones!
Roscoe did the narration and voice for Babe the pig.
I'll miss ya!

Wow...you're absolutely right...I have seen him in countless shows and movies, and NEVER knew his name.

Another sad loss...

RIP, Roscoe Lee Browne.

RIP Roscoe.

Here are 2 of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite characters in one of my all-time favorite movies,The Cowboys:

Jebediah Nightlinger: Well, I have the inclination, the maturity, and the where-with-all; but unfortunately, I don't have the time.

Jebediah Nightlinger: I regret trifling with married women, I'm thoroughly ashamed at cheating at cards, I deplore my occasional departures from the truth, Forgive me for taking your name in vain, my Saturday drunkenness, my Sunday Sloth. Above all, forgive me for the men I've killed in anger, and those I am about to...

I can hear that deep sexy voice in my mind without even trying.

Man, I am so sorry to hear that he passed away. I could listen to him (and James Earl Jones) read the phone book - That's how much I adored his voice.

I respect men, actors, like Roscoe...

He played in I would venture thousands of movies and TV shows. I bet he was active in theatre?
To me Roscoe, and other actors of his stature, put their wardrobe on the same way Costner, Deniro, or Hoffman do. But without fan fair or big money or the limelight. And in my book, did it just as well and in some cases- BETTER!
