Anti-V-Day

So, is anyone else having a lonely Valentines Day with only their corns, cats, fish and bird to keep them company because they have no other and their friends are all married or in relationships and are spending time with their significant others?? :grin01:

Just wondering if I am alone in my loneliness which truly only seems evident during these lovey dovey romantic holidays. . . .

Yes I know. . . . :sobstory:

Me! Me! Me! I'm going through a divorce right now, so its just me and the critters. Hello to all the lonely people!!!!

i'm kinda lonely my bf and i wont see each other till friday, and my family's pretty lame, so i'm hanging out with my snakes and fish lol

but i really dislike v-day just because it forces people to care, that just seems insincere to me. it's like "aww i love you so much, heres $20 worht of candy and a oversized bear, cuz thats how much you mean to me" *gag*
id rather be suprised randomly during the year with gifts :D

Another lonely heart here...It's maybe my least favorite holiday.
Even when I'm in a relationship I don't like the premise. It just puts pressure on people to 'prove their love' in a materialistic way (What did your partner get you? Jewelry? Flowers? Ack) So yeah I'm having a beer and enjoying my critters :flames: v day

My friend Callie and I are both single and we didn't get doodly squat for v-day except for stuff from our chick friends, so, we deemed Valentines Day "Singles Awareness Day"! Yay! So, instead of saying "Happy Valentines Day!" to people we saw, we said "Happy Singles Awareness Day!" And they just looked at us like we had food in our teeth or something....

I am selfishly glad to know that I am not alone but at the same time, of course, I am quite sad about it. The thing that got me the most was making the mistake of going to the grocery store today. BAD IDEA!! It was filled with people buying flowers, candy, and other gifts. :puke01:

I too am appalled by how materialistic V-Day can be but at the same time it is nice to get something and if you don't get anything it makes you feel at little un-thought of!

But I like the whole "Single Awareness Day"! Lets just celebrate that instead!!

I detest all the materialistic, forced to care for a day crap as well. My b/f and I never buy a crap load of meaningless stuff for eachother anyway. The way I feel is that if you have to buy me something so that I know you care then you aren't doing your job. It just so happens though that we "accidentally" got together 3 years ago on this day and I have never observed it before. So I got out the construction paper and made a lame little card for him tonight. It was fun for me cutting out paper hearts and all that. At the same time it felt really weird and silly because in three years we have never even given eachother cards for birthdays/christmas etc.

Go figure...

Not to get anyone more down, but my sister just called me 10 minutes ago to say she got engaged. She's 22 and my 23 year old sis just got married this past August.

But unlike the two of them who have both been dating their sig. others for the past 6-7 years, I don't have anything going on in that department. Valentine's day just seems pointless to me and why there is a day dedicated to it I have no idea. Even though I wish there were someone, I'm happy that being alone doesn't get me down. Though, it can be tough to look at my sister's and not be envious. :)

I demand to know what day is dubbed 'Man Day'.
Wouldn't that be Super Bowl Sunday??

It was a pretty dull day/night for me as well. I may be married, but he works 5pm to 4am, so it puts a damper on any evening dinner or cuddling. I made a really good "dinner" at 3pm though, so maybe that counts for something.

I think we're well past the "you better get me something or there'll be hell to pay" stage. Neither of us were that materialistic in the first place. I'm just happy when he remembers my birthday with a kiss.

Although I did indulge myself with some of his paycheck for some things I've been wanting. They just happened to be delivered today, so I thanked him for the "gifts" earlier. ;)

It was pretty lonely for me.

Hubby has been in Madagascar since DECEMBER 27! And he will return the day after Valentine's Day! It has been a long time. But less than 24 hours to go at last.

But some very good friends came over and even brought me some flowers. It is great to have good friends, esp. when hubby is gone!

Bah Humbug... oh wait, what was the term for V-day? Oh yeah, Bah Humbug.... Seems to work for all the holidays... I thought I hated Valentines Day the most out of all the holidays, but found out how wrong I was when I moved to Ohio to see what freezing my butt off for six years would be like.... (not recomended). Not only do they torture you with ice and snow in winter, they have two, count them, two V-days, only one is masked by calling it Sweetest Day... That's right, they want to remind you one more time a year that your single, or get you to buy all their heart shaped stuff that's been sitting in storage since February... so now I don't hate V-Day quite as much as Ohio... oh wait, Sweetest day, whew, almost got off topic for a min..... :) Anywho, for all those single people out there like me right now, do what I do and consider V-Day the day before the best holiday ever.... "Valentines Candy Sale Day" Hooray! 50% off heart shaped chocolaty goodness... with the week later follow up "Big Lots Surplus Valentines Candy Sale Day" Hooray! 80% off.... you get the idea.....

Well at least the day is over and as CaptBogart said, all V-Day candy is 50% off!!! And gosh it would Suck to live in Ohio!

Hooray! celebrating "Valentines Candy Sale Day" is sooooo much better, and I couldn't possibly eat another pink foil wrapped Hershey Kiss.... ok, maybe one more... and a silver one too... It's like a new tradition basking in the cool glow of the freezers light, picking and choosing from the giant bags... like really cold stocking stuffers.... :)

YAY!!! Happy VCS-Day!!! I would agree that this is way better than V-Day!! Ooh, have you tried the Hershey kisses with the peanut butter inside!? DEELICIOUS!! :crazy02:

Yeah, but are they as good as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? ;)

As for me, gimme Godiva dark chocolate with red raspberries inside.
