My husband and I just bought tickets to the one upcoming in Salt Lake. Neither of us has been to one before. Wondered how many people on here have been to one and was it fun?
I've been to Phoenix Comicon four or five times. There's always lots of stuff, no matter what you're interested in. I'm mostly interested in costuming, so that's the main reason I go, but I love video games and comics as well, so I enjoy that aspect as well.
Do you have any pictures of your costumes?
We decided we might as well go all out and dress up for it. We are only going on Sat. Planning on going as Firefly's Wash and Zoe. I've got our costumes about half assembled and am hoping it all works out like I'm picturing and everything that I bought online fits!
That's a great vest! Did you make that yourself?
My aunt found me a pattern for making one but I'm just not feeling motivated enough to make my own costumes, so I've just been assembling them from premade items.
Olivia, those costumes are amazing!!! Do you only make them for friends and/or as a hobby? Or do you accept commissions? My daughters, husband and I are all into Comic/Anime Cons, and try to attend as many as we can. My girls plan their cosplays far ahead of time, and they often will pay people to make a cosplay for them
Thank you! Yeah, we just make them for ourselves and occasionally a friend. We're not professional at all and often we end up having to redo things many times before we like it, so it would be difficult to take commissions or anything like that.
Well my gun belt and toy gun got here today and look pretty good! Just waiting on the vest now and I might buy a new pair of knee high boots too, as the boots I have already aren't quite right. I got the pants and the V necked shirt at the used store for $6 and $2, respectively. Part of the reason I chose the vest I did was because there is a belt incorporated in it already but while looking around for the pants and shirt, I found a nearly perfect brand new belt that was originally $25 and was on clearance for $2.50, so I had to buy it. The buckle is nearly a match for the real thing.
Have to wait and see if the vest I got works, it was the most expensive piece, so I hope so! It might arrive tomorrow or maybe not until Tuesday.
Incoming terrible bathroom selfie pictures! You have been warned ....
My vest came yesterday and I only just got to try it on. There are a few things I don't like about it but overall I'm happy with it. What do you guys think? Does it evoke the right impression, even though it's a good bit different than the original?
Once my husband's costume gets here, I will make him get out the tripod, the good camera and the remote and get some decent pictures of everything!
Comic-con sounds awesome. I want to go to one, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. I've seen photos of my favorite actors and actresses there, so that's basically the main reason I've ever wanted to go.

The vest was purchased and while it serves its purpose, I'm not happy with it. I'm currently trying to create my own with latex, foam and fabric. We'll see how it works.
Due to the fact that Firefly's been off the air a while, the odds are good that none but the most die-hard fans would recognize a completely accurate costume. Yours hits some of the iconic ideas of Zoe, so those same fans would probably see it, yep.
Don't be surprised if not a lot of random people do, though.
Well, we finally got out the good camera. I still hate any picture of myself but this one isn't bad. Haven't quite figured out what to do for shoes for my husband. We will probably end up getting a discreet pair of all black sneakers or boots, since there is no way we are going to come close to the authentic type.
