Any fish people?

Lovely fish everyone! And lol, LBoz, a fellow UB member! I definitely suggest joining that forum if you have betta, or any fish really.

I have 9 betta right now, and I've been keeping betta for years. I love all kinds of fish.

And to TheaN526, I agree with LBoz, your tanks are a tad small. Wal-Mart, Michaels, craft stores, and best of all Thrift Stores (I've found some wonders there!!) carry inexpensive containers that hold a gallon of water or more. I've had some vases that looked nice, and each where at least 2 gallons and cheaper than my little rectangular 2 gals I got at a pet store! So, just some suggestions. n____n Dividing a tank (as you mentioned) is great too, I've had several divided tanks before and they all worked out great.

I'll upgrade their housing soon. I'll check the thrift stores and the other ones you all suggested. Like I said I usually change their water out but I got lazy. Didn't realize fish were so demanding. LOL.

Beautiful fish, Thea! And everyone else, lol. I can't wait to see what you do in terms of a bigger tank... =) Anywhere you can get a vase is a good place to look! Even if you just hop on Craigslist and search around a bit...

I used to have a couple bettas. They lived in one of those little divided betta tanks from the pet store, maybe half a gallon total... Of course, I didn't know that was bad back then. I didn't even know fish tanks needed filters, lol! Sadly, my little blue betta committed suicide when I didn't put the top back on right one day after feeding. Can't remember what happened to the other one...

I've been thinking about trying fish again. Your beautiful bettas are NOT helping, Thea. ;) I've already bookmarked the Betta forum LBoz linked... *Dun, dun, dun!*

Yeah those Chinese Allergy Eaters are the WORST! JK.

Cajunmom, you got some great looking plants going there! Are those Anubias nana petit on the branch?
(Sorry to highjack back to plants- I have a one track mind with my new obsession, lol.)

..

yes they are. I tied them with fishing line in attempts to form and arch.

I've found some of the coolest fish stuff for so cheap at thrift stores, I just love them. And don't worry, way back when I got my first betta, I made all sorts of mistakes, it happens.

I got a picture of my pleco, Bob, today. He wasn't too happy with me.

I still have yet to get pictures of the red tail sharks, Splishy and Splashy.

Well I did a water change and rock change. Unfortunately haven't upgraded their housing. I'm a little low on cash until payday and I can't go out randomly because I didn't buy a bus pass. I was supposed to get one today but I was lazy and slept in until I had to go to work.

I get paid in a few days so hopefully I'll be able to do some cheap housing upgrades for all of my pets(fish, cats, and my snakes)

You know, you could probably hit your local Big Lots and just get plastic tubs. I bought a couple dozen 6 quart Sterilite tubs to house hatchlings, and they've turned out to be the PERFECT soaking/feeding/moist hide/incubation tubs for the beardie, bigger snakes, and eggs... They're only $1, and then there are 15 quart tubs for a couple dollars there, too. You could use them as temporary housing upgrades for your fish, and then feeding/soaking tubs when your snakes get bigger. They aren't great long-term water containers, but they would probably be absolutely fine for your bettas until you were able to formally upgrade them... They probably have cheap vases and the like, too, that you could use. Lol, I think I've fallen in love with Big Lots...

And even if you don't want "halfway housing" for your fish, there's always the dollar store. It would be easy as pie to hit a dollar store and pick up some good-sized vases.

Hope this helps. =)

Oooh, you guys aren't helping and my mom might kill me. "Desktop aquariums" (1-5 gal) are 15% off at Petco right now... If I have the money (or if my mom talks me out of the mean little amel corn there), I might just pick up one of those aquariums and a betta and some plants to go in it... You bad, BAD influences!!! Lol

Oh yeah. Beautiful fish, by the way. ;)
