Any German Shepherd keepers?

Sadie is the throw things dog in my family, My GSD is the derpy dance dog. I was in the kitchen pouring a drink and she just sits and looks at me, then trots off to the living room and does this funky dance of swinging her head around and making big circles with her arms as she pounces a toy. Right now she's putting her big paw on my laptop demanding I pet her.

Ive always loved GSD's but our next big dog will be a non shedding type protection dog that has been working along side GSD's in Germany and EU for many years.

I saw a giant Shnauzer at the vet a few weeks ago, gorgeous dog, it's one thing to see pictures but to see it in person was just wow.

I used to want a GSD when I was younger but that desire has fled. I like them, they are gorgeous dogs but not for me. I have two sharpei/labs and one pitbull and they are all laid back (I'm not a terribly busy person) and most of the GSD I have met (also work in a clinic) are super focused and/or clingy. Nothing against the breed though :)

Then you definitely would NOT like the Belgian Malinois breed! LOL
I like to call them GSD's on crack. Haha!

Haha! Before getting Grizzly I was researching between GSD and Belgian Malinois, after reading about the Malinios serious attention and job needs, that idea went out the window!
I'm glad I ended up with "I'm content to do whatever you want to do" puppy.

Mal's, even half breeds, like Alexa, are definitely not that way. LOL!
don't get me wrong, she does like to cuddle on the couch, but she's no couch potato. She's an active dog, and I get an "escort" wherever I go.
The intelligence on them can be scary. She watches me like she's studying to learn whatever it is I'm doing.
The first time she did that, I was washing dishes. I turn around and she's sitting in the kitchen behind me, watching, like she's learning. The expression on her face caught me off guard, it was kinda creepy. LOL Now I find it entertaining.

Grizzly is definitely a shadow. I think he is a German shepherd and potato mix. He is VERY active when I want him to be though. We generally go on a 3-5 mile a walk per day, and the dog park. Otherwise he usually just sleeps somewhere. Like now.

Alexa does have an "off" button...(must be the GSD half) LOL
She likes to sleep in my recliner later in the evening when we're winding down.

This is Ryder as of a month and a half ago. He was approx 40lbs in this picture and 5.5 months old.

He's now 7 months old and between 50-55lbs, hard to tell with the scale I have.. He's a shepherd/boxer/rott mix. Intelligence of the shepherd, energy of the boxer, and pain tolerance/stubbornness of the rott.

He was the only survivor of the litter. Cost me $60. He then managed to get parvo, and set me back several hundred, but he's resilient as hell, and mean as dirt to strangers- which is perfect for out here on the farm.

I also have a 1 year 2 month long hair purebred shepherd who I fail at having pictures of on my computer. He's a rescue, slightly underweight at only 75lbs ;(

Parvo is particularly bad on bully breeds including rotts, at least I've read that before. Handsome and a little intimidating pup lol. My Kaya has a good guarding sense so I know what you mean there, she isn't mean, but she will stand her ground until she gets that I tell her it's okay. I think it's pretty good for her age, she's kind of going through that adhd stage that has her chasing and smelling EVERYthing. She still hasn't gotten her big girl colors in all the way and I presume she won't until her next shed. I'll be happy about it too, she looks so patchy lol

Parvo is especially bad for rotties and Dobermans. Pitbulls are also on that list I believe. I love the expression on Ryder's face...doesn't look like he takes much crap off of anyone lol.

We are getting covered in snow, had a hard time getting home from work, if only I had my dog sled team lol :grin01:

I call the top one "flying goobers in the snow" I need to frame it and put it up in my new home. The bottom was a lucky shot, I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of and Hana got caught eating snow :) An innocent action but such a guilty look.
