She does not like to hold still but I figured that I would throw these up. She is supposed to be a whiteout.

Just shed a couple of days ago. If anybody has any tips to figuring out when she will go into blue, that would help me out.

Wow those eyes are beautiful! You can generally tell when she's going in blue when they turn a little pale (maybe hard to tell since she's a whiteout) also, her eyes will turn blueish. Her eyes will turn back to normal and after that about 3-4 days she'll shed.

Yes, vey nice eyes.

Hmm. She has shed twice. I couldn't tell anything but I wrote down her last so I have the window. I will just have to keep watch.

I have an amel so it is hard for me to tell visually too so I usually go by behavior. My snake spends more time in the warm hide and resists handling right before she starts to shed. And keeping a log of sheds like you are doing helps, especially when they are younger and it is a little more regular (I don't know how old she is - I can't really get a good scale from pics).

She is very pretty! I loved the pursed lips in one of the pics :)

I also own an amel and is usually hard to tell when he's to shed, so I go by behaviour too. About 2-3 days before turning blue he hides all day, so I know he'll be blue.
I also keep records, so I relate hiding with shed periods.
When they're young they'll shed about once a month, so if you keep the records you can tell. Take that the day he sheds he's been in the process for the 6-7 days before, so you can guess.

Thank you guys, very much.

She is still young. The guy I got her from just said '15. Today, the scale says 13g.

Update!

It has been a while since I have been here! Crazy. Gwyn weighed in at 45g today. I was looking at BCI's today and the girl at the pet store told me corn snakes were lame. Lame! I was speechless. Gwyn has an awesome personality and I enjoy learning about her everyday.

She has calmed down a whole lot but she still doesn't understand the concept of holding still while out of her tub. lol

Every shed she turns a little whiter so I am very hope full about the full white out when she gets older.

She has only given me two little nips and they were my fault for not washing my hands after handling mice. I was more worried about hurting her since she startled me and I pulled away so quickly.

I am going to the expo this weekend and see if any imperators catch my eye. I got a T8 and VE-200 for Christmas which is very exciting.

I used Aperture to try to take away the red the camera added. You get the idea.

All the python and boa people at local shows seem to feel this way. I wonder if a table full of palmettos, goldens, and other new morphs would at all change their mind. ;) Probably not!

Gwyn is looking fabulous! At first I thought she might be an opal, but I see she's a whiteout. Definitely a favorite of mine either way. :)

Yes! She is looking pretty good. Only time will tell about the full white out but I have my fingers crossed. I have been feeding her pretty conservatively since I'm afraid of power feeding.

One thing I did do wrong was about the temp probe. It moved without me noticing so I have it taped to where I can keep an eye on it now and check it every other day, or I get nervous.

First, your snake is totally awesome. Congrats. Corn snakes are getting a postage stamp in the USPS pets series, so take that corn snake naysayers!

Second, if that probe is taped in the viv or enclosure, it's a disaster waiting to happen. Your snake will find a way to get stuck to and possibly injured on that tape. I suggest hot glueing it instead.

It's one of those 3 shelve racks with cb 70s in them. I think that I got it from boaphile but I'm not sure. I had the probe taped beneath the 2nd shelf but it was out of site out of mind. Stupid.

Its now taped on the side of the rack. Easily checked on. If anything comes loose I will be able to see it immediately.

I lurked on this forum for about 6 months before I made a purchase. No tape in the enclosure is a rule I adhere to.

Sounds nice, though I have no clue as to what a CB 70 is. I even went to the Boaphile web site and still can't figure that out, lol.

Their stacking cages look really nice. I've been looking because when my snakes are bigger a stacking solution would be nice. I've looked at Neodosha and Animal Plastics, but Boaphile was off my radar. Anyway I have time, they are good for at least a year in current housing.

I didn't mean to be preaching to the choir there. If I can't tell where the tape is, I speak up and try to save a snake and it's keeper the anguish of almost certain disaster.

I had never had a hot glue gun until I owned a snake, but I practice what I preach.

Hot glue! that would make perfect sense. I have a small tube of loctite I use sometimes.

CB 70 is just the type of tub. My small rack unit is like the ballroom rack, but only 3 shelves. It's very handy

oh! Mines from apcages.com

apcages.com -> Iris rack system -> CB-70 series.

its good quality, easy to use. Pretty inexpensive for what it is.

Nice little white out. I don't understand why some reptile people seem to think corns are 'lame'. My son had a ball python. It sat knotted up in his lap. It was okay. I did not care for the face, but I thought my corns were much prettier. My husband, a total non snake person went with me to Repticon. There were very few corns there. Maybe 10 in the entire place. Ball pythons and such everywhere. He walked around the entire room and looked at everything. Then he came and found me and said, "I don't see anything here as pretty as the snakes you have." There were some nice boas and pythons there, but there was nothing that looked as good as a salmon snow or a reverse okeetee...

I agree. I hope that I see something worth taking home this weekend. Actually, I think that I will have the opposite problem lol. love expos
