Apple

Haha - my mom had this same problem when she got her new imac.

The mighty mouse has right click, you just have to set the right side of the mouse to serve as right click. Should be under System Preferences->Mouse. Then from there you can configure what it does.

The mighty mouse is really nice because it does gesture/swipe commands (not sure if you knew that). I find this to be much more natural than the scroll wheels once you get used to it.

Edited to add, do you have a mighty mouse? Or magic mouse? I thought all iMacs came with magic mouses now? REgardless, the mighty mouse has right click as well, probably still need to set it up in the system preferences.
I only bought the iPad new. I bought the iMac used to play with before dumping a couple grand. It is a 2009 aluminum iMac 20" 2.66ghz dual core, 4gb ram, 320gb drive, superdrive, aluminum keyboard and mighty mouse. I basically have this.

I love Macs. I have used both PCs and Macs but I would never go back to a PC for my personal computer. I use Macs at work now, too. One thing I have noticed is how frustrated my husband and step son get with their PCs. They are forever having problems. I never have problems on my Mac. My husband, after seeing my laptop, said his next laptop will be a Mac. I find them far easier to use and more pleasing to the eye. One thing about Windows that absolutely, positively frustrates me is that it seems like you can't get anything done without having some stupid pop-up window forever opening up and warning you about something or asking you to install something or telling you something isn't working well. I have an apoplexy every time I have to use a PC. I find Macs to be far superior and I am willing to pay for it.

I second what everyone has said about the mouse. I have the same mouse as you have in your picture and when I click the right side, a contextual menu pops up. Hopefully you can set it up in your preferences.

Enjoy your new goodies. I am very envious of your iPad!

Got it. Still an awesome machine! Yeah, that mouse can two click. Just futz around in the system preferences and you can set it up how you like.

Just wanted to put my input out there. I have a macbook pro laptop. I don't use a mouse because I like the trackpad. That being said, you can set up the mouse to right click. Because I do not have a mouse, I can only guess, but I think you can set it up to two-finger click for right clicking. Basically, instead of using one finger to click, you use two at the same time and the right menus should come up. I'm pretty sure you'll have to go up to the Apple icon in the top left corn and select System Preferences. Then go to Mouse and change settings. Because I do not have a mouse connected to my computer, I can't access the menu options, but just mess around with it and you'll get it.

Also, did you know that you can duel boot operating systems? You'll have to fork over the cash for both the Windows system and then a duel booter program like VMWare Fusion 3 ($80 on apple.com). If it were me, I would also consider upgrading the RAM to 8gb and even install 1TB or better hard drive. That's just me though. I use up a lot of memory in the crap I do.

Also, Lion is the newest Mac os. I have Snow Leopard which is one behind. There are few differences but you will get Lion or better (depending on when you get a new computer).

As for programs, if you have an ipod or even download a lot of music (especially P2P, which is illegal and blah blah blah lecture), then I would suggest getting TuneUp. It is an iTunes side-along that will organize your music for you and pull album covers as needed. It comes in handy when you have 2300+ songs.

Also, an anti-virus is always good to have. I have two: IAntivirus (which is free) and then Mac Keeper's built in one. Which brings me to Mac Keeper. This program is a paid-for cleaner that scans your system for invalids. It also has an anti-theft program that tracks your computer if stolen as soon as it goes online. You have to register for an account and I haven't done it yet, but it should be pretty straightforward. It has a data encryptor, Undelete to retrieve lost files, a shredder to completely delete something, a backup program (though if you buy a time machine external drive, you can do the same thing there), something called ZeoDisk that hasn't been released yet so I can't say what that is, a duplicates finder, a Files Finder which I never use because the spotlight does it just fine, a disk usage monitor, a "wise" uninstaller which I've never used, and user support. It comes in handy.

There is also Facetime and Boom. Facetime may not be Windows compatible, but I'm not sure. It's great for video calls. I don't use it much though because I have my iPhone. Boom is a cheap ($10) program that bypasses your computer's natural sound settings to increase volume. It comes in handy for us hard of hearing people listening to audio with lower maximum settings. I love it when I'm listening to the podcast Twilight Series Theories or Netflix. The sound in general is okay for everything else.

If you have any other questions, just shoot me a PM and I could probably answer it.

I bought the magic mouse today. I like it so far. I got the Magic Prefs app which allows changing mouse options for seemingly everything. (fyi it works for track pads too)

I also suggest perhaps fooling around with Linux too, either through dualbooting, using virtualmachine (basically it boots Linux while you're in Windows, like any other program), or Linux Live (you stick a cd or usb into your computer and reboot, making the computer boot from the cd/usb instead of windows).
The reason I say this is because well, Linux is free, so you don't pay a million to try it out, and both Linux and OSX/Lion/Whatever are unix based systems... Meaning from what I can tell, they're very similar... (Never personally used anything Apple except once for maybe 10 minutes at a school, so I can't definitely say they are.) Plus there's more freedom with customization of the OS...
If you do give Linux a go, perhaps try either Ubuntu or PinguyOS (Pinguy OS is an edit of Ubuntu to be even more n00b friendly). I mean if you have a spare cd/usb, why not? I'm sure there's probably a way to make it seem (near) identical to Apple's OSs, if you really do prefer it. :)

I dual booted windows and linux in the past. I also used Linux exclusive for a while. I am familiar with Suse and RedHat releases. Not really interested in dual booting this machine. I have OS X on this machine and Windows on my IBM laptop for now. Also I am using Trend Micro for MAC for virus software as my ISP provides it and supports it.

I appreciate all the other suggestions! Thanks all. Feel free to add more.

I am really liking the magic mouse. Sleek modern looking and the top surface is basically a touch pad.

pridecity, How much difference is there from Snow Leopard and Lion? This machine is running Snow at this time.

Glad you like the mighty mouse. I've used them some at the Apple Store, and when I help my mom out with computer stuff on her computer. They are really really slick mice!

I know this wasn't addressed to me, but I've held off on updating to Lion. I know when it first came out, there were lots of little bugs that were giving people fits with various tasks. Most had no issues.

But I've held off. It's only $30 so if you do try it, please report back to us about it.

A friend of mine has been having little issues with Lion, but I don't know the specifics. Sorry I can't help too much there.

If you have an Apple magic mouse or trackpad you gotta have Magic Prefs app. In there you can modify so much you will get lost. Taps, swips, clicks, one finger, two finger, three finger, four finger, etc, etc.
