I discovered why the hose on my Hoover is always clogging. There is an extra piece of hose inside the stiff part that plugs into the rest of the vacuum. Whenever I turn on the vacuum, this extra piece gets sucked down enough that it blocks 90% of the passageway and if I vacuum up spilled aspen bedding, it clogged. The stiff part of the hose is probably a foot and a half long and I can't reach it.

Any ideas on how to clip that extra hose piece without breaking the hose? I tried a wire hanger because I thought I'd vacuumed up plastic on accident, but realized it was part of the hose.
 
Carefully measure the diameter of where the hose plugs in and go to a vacuum repair store and see if you can buy and new hose. Or take your hose with you and go to a hardware store or home depot and see if you can find a rubber hose the right diameter to replace it.
 
Darn, I was hoping that I could somehow cut the extra piece that is blocking the hose instead of having to buy a new one.
 
I don't have a visual of the problem. Pictures would help. If you could find a replacement at HD it would probably only cost 10$ and be better than the original.
