B&W Photos

Went out and played around for the first time with the monotone feature of my camera. I had a really good time! It's really cool having this feature and being able to shoot in B&W or color from picture to picture. I'm gonna have to use this more often...

Anyhow...Your tips and input are ALWAYS appreciated!

I love the last one. I think the stuff in the foreground in the others detracts. I love the textures, especially of the grass, in the third. The contrast of textures.

Thanks, Nanci! I appreciate the input!

I wish digital cameras could mimic Infrared film.
The first photo reminded me of that, white trees and a dark sky but still not the style of infrared.
looks very cool Chris, i know you have been asked this a dozen times, what kind of camera do you have?

Love them!

I think the first one would have a better feel to it if it was just the trees or just the pile of rocks? off to the side there. The eye follows the trees to the right to find the end of the photo and then the pile of rocks? to the left to find the end of the photo. Or if you could get a single tree in with the pile of rocks behind it would be cool also.

I always enjoy your pictures!

Nice shots Chris!

Do you prefer to shoot in b+w or in colour and THEN change to b+w? Because if you shoot in mono you never have any option to play with colour later on. You can always take colour away, but never get it back. Or well thats how I think when I shoot :)

I prefer to shoot in monotone. You don't lose as much integrity of the image as you would in a greyscale conversion. I tend to think in B&W when shooting, anyhow. It goes back to my early days with film. It took me a lot of time to learn to "work my camera" using color film...

If getting a "color copy" is important for a scene, I switch to RAW format and shoot both color and monotone with a single exposure...Takes a TON of room on the memory card, but it can sometimes be worth it to compare the two images.

Trickster--
I picked up an Olympus E-520 and a couple of Zuiko lenses...
