Shes really a great snake, showing some behavior i've never seen from my other snakes. Even though she is sort of grumpy face to face , she spends all of her evenings in plain view. She likes to stick half of herself out of her hide, with most of her body at a 45, and her head held horizontally, like a periscope surveying the scene. I got a few pictures of her cobra act whilst lookin for recyled mice and changing water.

Thanks for looking :D

Oooops!

It has been brought to my attention that I have failed to remember that shes a hybrid, and probably shouldent be displayed in the corn gallery. My bad! If a mod could move this and let this one slide this time ;)

SSSSHHHHHHH....It might slip under the radar....LOL

Corn hybrids and intergrades, if my memory serves me correctly this morning, are still okay for the Photo Gallery, although some members prefer to post them in the General Chit Chat forum, just to be safe. I'll let one of the other mods move this, if they feel it should be moved.

Lovely jungle corn! I"m very partial to them, just have had some bad luck with mine.

Quick question I know what a hybrid is. What is a intergrade???? I have seen the term thrown around a few times. Is it different than a hybrid?

Intergrade would be like my Jewel: half Florida King, half Eastern King. Same genus, different species. I'd give a ratsnake example, but I can't think of one. The Beast babies, I think. Aren't they second generation half black rat, half corn?

Intergrades are crosses between a corn snake and other closely related rat snake species and/or subspecies, depending upon how the "powers that be" decide to classify something on any particular day. Intergrades can occur naturally in the wild where the geopgraphic "boundaries" meet and/or overlap. A perfect example are creamsicles (corn X Emory).

I know what you mean....For years we got used to relating them by how they looked, and similarities in their make-up to classify them...Corns and a lot of others were thrown into the melting pot, of the colubridae....But now thanks to genetic classification we find our corn is in a family totally different and most probably venomous....LOL

I do believe our next corn is going to be a jungle. I've always liked them. My wife saw some at the show yesterday and loves them. The brother-in-law has the kingsnakes, we have the corns, mmmmmmm????

Wow, Josh. I don't know how I missed seeing pics of your snake before this. I really like her contrast on the white ground color.

I don't normally care for jungles, but this one is quite nice IMO. I like the color saturation in her saddles, and I love all the little white bars on her face! Cute!

Thanks everyone :) I hope she keeps up her current appearance throughout her years. I haven't really seen too many pictures of adult jungles so im not sure what sort of dulling/bleeding to expect.
