Beardie Centerfold: Ms April :)

Twang'em into trees!
The website where I usually post photos of Jolie is down, so you're in luck: you get to see them, instead! :) I just wanted to post these photos because Jolie really is so very jolie and it's too cute how my big alpha male cat, Strasti, wants to be friends with her. :) Jolie was ok with it, for the most part, but when he tried to clean her & affectionately "tap" on her face (like he does with mine when he wants my attention or to wake up...), she just wasn't too thrilled with it. Jolie never hissed, but there is definitely a very attitudinal soul inside my beardie. So, without further ado, here is my nominee for Beardie Centerfold o'the Month: Ms April, aka, Jolie.

:wavey:

I don't know how she manages to look so orangey-red...maybe it's the overhead light, but the towel that she's on is a bit darker than normal; the bottom picture shows the towel closer to its true-to-life color, and she looks a bit more accurate as well, but I do marvel at her general orang-i-ness...:)

Strasti and Ms April (Jolie) -- all 17.5 inches, 445 g glory of her. :)

Thanks again!

This is the first picture of a bearded dragon iv ever seen, an awesome one at that.

I don't know who should be more scared....the lizard (of the cat), the cat (of the lizard) or YOU with both those big guys staring at you (im sure they r thinking....'we could take her'')!!! :)

Jolie is huge!! And pretty!

I used to have a free-range iguana, very big, and four cats. The iguana chased the black tortoiseshell cat, ignored the gray tabby and male Siamese, and basked in the sun with the (seemingly a few fries short of a Happy Meal) female Siamese, who would rub her head on Drazil- and he allowed that.

Thanks, Nanci. :) You know, as much fun as it is to take & post the photos, it's nice to also hear that she looks good & healthy. As embarrassed as I am to admit it, she was more or less an impulse purchase -- though I at least knew what she is & a bit on how to care for her -- but I had nothing set up for her, much less really knew what she ate, etc., and her breeder was no help, either! So, it's nice to hear that she looks well. :) Thanks! And, I'd love it if my cats were a little more tolerant of Jolie; for now, they see her as being their version of Kitty TV in her big tank.

Very pretty bearded dragon. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Dave. She's definitely a fun one.

I'm very good at resisting impulse lizard purchases, although I was very taken by a Gargoyle Gecko at the last show I was at...The thing that saves me from lizards is how easy snakes are compared to everything else. But beardies definitely are cute. I like big fat lizards.

Resisting reptile purchases is even more difficult now that I've started them over the past year (it's only been a year???) because I've come to see how easy the reptiles I do have are to maintain, but also I've come to discover just how wonderful they are for my allergies & asthma...I just got back from the allergist today, only to find out that I'm allergic to just about everything (my arms lit up like Christmas trees during the allergen testing, and the dr decided not to wait the full testing time because I was twitching like a 2-year old! How I've made it alive this long without an allergist before is beyond me...drugs -- lots of drugs, I tell you...), including being severely allergic to my cats. So knowing that the reptiles are "safe" makes them all the more tempting...even so, I usually have to hold Jolie while she sits on a towel because her claws cause me all kinds of allergic irritation (that, and she's pooped on me at least 3 times already!). Otherwise, I have been very good at resisting the impulse buys mostly because I only take a certain amount of money with me when I go & my ever-handy list, which usually only the money will cover...but it was my birthday, so it was a motivated impulse. And, while it was an impulse all the same, at least I had the sense to not listen to the breeder and check around for more info & fix my mistakes. :) I learned my lesson. :)
