Being a hoggie is really rough

Geez...you think I was trying to kill him or something. All joking aside, I wasn't TRYING to get him to play dead, but I'm glad he finally did as I think that is so freaking cute lol...

Staaaaaaawwwwwp!!

Nuuuu!!! I don't WANNA!!!

Eh, as stinky as musk can be I guess lol. Considering I work in a vet clinic and clean flesh off bones in my free time, musk scent doesn't really bother me. I couldn't tell if his little tongue was sticking out as his butt was right over the top of it lol. I'm going to go with "yus" his tongue was sticking out XD He is the most dramatic reptile I currently own lol.

Haha makes sense!

I'm quite familiar with the scent of musk (thanks to my not so calm and friendly garter snake) and while it no longer "shocks" me I still find it highly unpleasing so kudos to you for having a nose of steel!

I love it when their little tongues flop out the side. Apparently it is possible to find wild western hoggies around here, but I have never been successful. I've always wanted to witness one playing dead for myself.

In Montana?!? No way!!! I know rubber boas are indigenous to that area but had NO clue that hoggies were...I am going to be there for a couple weeks this summer...may have to go see what I can find :D

Yep!

There's not a super strong population, and they are found mostly further east than where I live, but they do exist and I've seen photos from other Montana's who have found wild ones.

If you're going out past Helena towards Great Falls you will be entering their range http://fieldguide.mt.gov/detail_ARADB17010.aspx

Hope you get the chance to look for one!

Well darn, I'm actually going to be in Missoula lol. IF I head that way I will keep my eyes peeled for sure!

Cool! I hadn't known hoggies were native to Montana either! Love it when they play dead, the little drama queens!

He deserves an Oscar for that performance.

I love how all the hoggies I've heard about from others seem to have such a personality :D

Not to criticize, but just from my eyeball test, that pinkie looks awfully big for that little hoggie. I find that tiny meals more frequently agree better with them and keep them eating. Again, not to be negative or take the thread off track. :)

Chip: I was holding my phone at a weird angle which made the pinky look bigger...I was wondering when someone would bring that up as I didn't notice until I posted the pic lol. I actually almost dropped it taking that pic >.<

Trick photography, like that photo that floats around the internet that makes a rattlesnake look about 20 ft long. :)

Really adorable, and convincing!
