Big Cheese Rodent order

Well I just placed an order with Big Cheese Rodent for 50 large pinkie mice (2-3g) an 50 Jumbo Mice (40-50g). The total came out to $68. With my two snakes, this should last me quite a while haha. I've read some pretty good reviews on them, so I hope it all goes well. they will be here by Wed. The jumbos should last almost a year and a half (3 feeds a month). And the large pinkies should last 8 months (feeding 6 times a month). Of course this is providing that they eat every meal. Minus when the male isn't eating in the spring for mating purposes.

You only have one snake on the pinks... it wont eat all of them.
I wouldnt have my snakes on pinks that long....

I think you bought too many.

Well if this one lives more than a month, maybe you will be able to get rid of all those pinks...

whatever Tula. It may happen to you someday. Don't throw stones at people that live in glass houses....

The phrase is actually "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"...

You have used it out of context :)

This is an honest thought, not a pot shot or anything so please don't think of it that way.......

I would try not to buy more than three months worth at a time to keep in the freezer due to the whole "freshness" and "freezerburn" issue.

I use a heck of a lot more mice than you but what I have done in order to get the volume discounts is buy however many I have to then sell what I can't use by three months to pet stores at cost. This way I will have more cash free to buy a large shipment again in three months!

Good luck though, and I'm interested in hearing back as big cheese is who I am going to try for my next order ;)

Rebecca

They don't get freezer burned that fast. And even if they are, they are still safe to eat.

Most people if not many will keep rodents frozen much much longer than 3 months... they keep for quite some time in the freezer. I know that I use them for quite some time and notice no lack of growth or health in any of my animals.

This topic has been covered quite extensively...

I actually think it goes something like "treat people the way you want to be treated".

Don't be so critical and quick to snap at someone... the board will be a better place if we all just eased up a bit. Not saying that I don't love it here, but at times it can be a bit harsh.

I agree %1000000

Two snakes? What is the new one? I know you lost your little snow but didn't know you got a new one
Perhaps Elle meant that to come out as a joke :shrugs: Hard to tell in the forum sometimes if things are said to be hurtful or not.

I just think after not having a clue about the death of a snake he has only had for a short time, he should slow down a bit before getting another. Find out the cause of death? Leave no rock unturned. Hell even a trip to the vet with the body may prevent things like this happening in the future...

I think emanon made a really good point. It's too easy to sit behind a computer screen and judge others. Albinoscooby is new to this and has made mistakes, we all do/ will/ have when getting into this hobby. Since you also seem to be acquiring new snakes at a pretty good rate maybe you should take your own advice and slow down a bit yourself Tula.

Big cheese said that they stay good for up to two years because they are vacuum wrapped. Providing that you keep them frozen and at the right temps and what not.
