Big Moose: 2013 Amel Tessera Update!

Nanci

Alien Lover
I _almost_ feel safe calling Big Moose a candy cane :) His white is really hanging in there. I can't wait to breed him next year! (He's het cinder, poss het bloodred. He'll be breeding to a peppermint. Yay!!)

I was trying to take a photo for my Facebook cover photo. Moosey was pretty cooperative. Lighting is overcast, midday, no flash.

Thanks for looking!!

Nanci is that amel tessera a brother to the amel tessera het cinder that I purchased from Carol? They look identical. I will be breeding him to a Cinder het amel female.

I bet he is! Can't imagine where else Carol would have gotten Amel Tesseras- she has the whole rest of the clutch. So the dad is Firefly, a Tessera het Cayenne Fire. I _thought_ he was red factor, and he is still SUPER red compared to other "normal" tesseras, but compared to his brother Cinaed- not even close. So I don't know. Mom is Petunia, a peppermint het nothing AFAIK. She is one of the palest peppermints I have ever seen.

How big is your guy? Big Moose weighed in today at 110 grams.

He is celebrating by moving into the young adult rack in the living room- a ten gallon viv with all kinds of vines and hides and a mini-wine cube box.

I'm so happy to hear your guy is staying white as well. I'd love to see photos! I bet I can tell which baby he is.

I don't know how big he is compared to his clutchmates (they were all huge!!) but my next biggest yearling is 77 grams...He hatched at 10.6 grams!!

I had a regurge from him about a month after I got him and followed the protocol so he is only 52g right now. What's important to me is that he seems to be as healthy as a horse now and the regurges are a thing of the past.
I always said he looked much different tgen most amel tesseras I have seen in that he appeared like more of a candy cane.

Yeah, just one regurge will set a snake way back, but it's better to feed cautiously afterwards than risk another regurge.

Lurvely snake, Nanci. What is red is very red. (And what is white is very white.)

Great decor, love the shell, too.

Thank you, I love him! I _almost_ repeated the breeding this year, but decided to wait one year so I get all amels and peppermints. Hopefully he passes on his looks!
