Big Red the Hypo-Bloodred

Amazing color & diffusion. He looks great. Now just keep eating, big guy!

Thanks! So far so good. He looks hungry today, I skipped him when I fed everyone else earlier in the week since he was blue and never eats blue.

Thanks Rich, think how good he would be looking if he was as big as a 2007 SHOULD be. :D The other snakes I bought at the same time as him are all 300g +.

He's so beautiful! I love his eye color. It's very different from my hypoblood Jasper's. His eyes are orange. Big Red's eyes look like a sulfer's. Stuffed green olives!

Thank's Nanci, his eyes have always been really neat. I didn't realize that they weren't normal though! :D

Today Big Red ate his first real mouse! :D

Finally!!

Feels like a real milestone with this little guy. I am very happy today. My wife asked me, "Do you plan to breed him eventually?" I was like, "uh, yeah!" He would be a dad this year if he had been eating normally. I guess whatever non-feeding, terrible sheds problems he was having are finally over. (Crossing my fingers!)

Here is a shot from today:

If you look close you can see he still has that white tail-tip.

I really like how he has what would be called a white "blaze" if he were a cat or a horse or something.

I plan to breed Big Red to Pink eventually. Then I'll keep back a pair of their offspring...

How fun will that be?? I can't wait lol.

He sure has gotten red! Wow- this thread has been going for almost three years.

Yeah his color has really deepened in the last few months....

I'm TRYING to keep all my progression threads alive... it's hard because I am lazy about taking pictures of these guys!

Very nice! And what a transformation he has gone through...
And that's weird about the tail tip lacking pigment...my female hypo blood is exactly the same. She is notorious for retaining the tip of her tail when she sheds, so I always have to work it off for her. But that little white spot always throws me for a loops and I can never be sure when I've gotten it all off until she starts getting agitated... Must be because I'm rubbing the tip of her tail raw?? LOL!

Good luck with your breeding plans for him! That's an interesting list you've got there.

Thanks!

My wife noticed today actually that he had retained his tail tip when we were taking his photo. I got it off, but this is the first time I have ever seen that on him. I'll be more careful to check next time!

After his third adult mouse meal he regurged. Back to the drawing board. He has now eaten a few pinkies and a hopper. Crossing my fingers, again.

Sorry to hear that. He is an amazing looking snake. Wish you well with him.

He is featured here in a shot I took recently for my caresheet.

And a couple from today... little skinny guy! I guess I'll be feeding him hoppers for a while yet!

His gray head is fading, but you can still see a little of the skull pattern.
