Elder curmudgeon
Finally for today, here are a few shots of our male blizzard, Blizzard. Original, no? (Our almost-13-year-old daughter named him.) Up until yesterday, we thought he was a she, and we'd built a breeding schedule around having a female blizzard. A sub-caudal scale count a week ago pretty well blew that out of the water, and yesterday we took him to ZooKeepers where Daniel got a glorious double-pop out of him.
Sigh.
Anyway, I'm pretty danged sure he's a motley, based on the hurricane-esque pattern extending to within two inches of his tail tip, and his completely blank belly. I looked carefully at his last shed, and there's absolutely no evidence of any pattern anywhere, so that was a bust. I'll dig out a polarizing filter and see if polarized sunlight makes anything show on the shed, but that's for another day. I'm going to post pics over in the morph forum, as well, to see what the experts have to say. I'm also going to post the eye shot in the eye-shots thread, since there's not a blizzard eye in it yet.
