This clutch was Hypo Bloodred het Motley x Granite Motley. Lots of Motley babies.....

.....and a couple of Stripes??? I thought maybe these were Pinstripe Motleys, but they look a lot like the Stripe gene. Any thoughts on these? Neither of the parents were known to carry the Stripe gene.

Do you know what the parents of the Hypo Bloodred were? If those babies are stripe, the Granite has to be a Motley/Stripe and the Hypo Blood has to be heterozygous Stripe.

Your offspring, if they are indeed Stripes, and they look like it to me, would be Motley/Stripes (phenotypically motley) and Stripe/Stripes (phenotypically Stripe).

The stripe looks wide- if you look at my recent clutch of pinstripe motleys, you can see how narrow the pinstripe is. Plus, it's connected at the head, and motley is not- and stripe almost always is.

Thanks for your info, Nanci! Unfortunately, I don't have the information on the parents of the Hypo Bloodred. But you are the second person that thinks these are Stripe/Stripes.

Nice clutch! Congrats! I hatch some Fire Motleys this year that have very Striped patterns from a Fire Motley het Stripe X Fire Stripe.

Fire Motley on left and Fire Stripe on right.
