Boy or girl??

I have heard lots of things about being able to judge the sex of a corn snake by its tale?

I'm too nerves to even attempt to pop it but am kind of curious wether or not it is a boy or a girl!

I know it looks rude, but the breeder that I bought my two babies taught me how to do it with 1 month old snakes, it's harmless if done gently and in the right way :).

If you take them to a veterinary, the doctor would see its sex introducing an iron stick inside of their cloaca, what I think is way more invasive.

I agree. Don't like the thought of them being probed. Il try it with my two younger snakes but can't see monti letting me do it .thanks the video was very helpful.

With a light colored snake like that you can also see through them. Try holding it up to a window and looking through it. You should be able to see the hemipenes. Less invasive still! :)
I don't know anything at all about popping, but I've heard if you do it wrong you can injure your snake.

That's just made me more nervous. I'm just going to leave it. As long as they are separate then it's fine I don't really need to know

Just an FYI guys, the snake in question looks too old to Pop. Popping corn snakes to determine sex is relatively easy when they are hatchlings, but older snakes should be probed. I agree to proceed safely. A veterinarian specializing in reptiles should be able to probe a snake for you. You can also find a reputable breeder or reptile shop in your area and ask for guidance.

I would vote female as well due to the quick taper after the vent and the short profile. Visual sexing is probably the least accurate method of sexing, however.

From everything I've read, to tell visually without popping or probing, look at the vent, where the tail starts. it it instantly starts to taper off, its female. if it continues at body width for a bit then tapers, its male. Its an educated guess at best, and not 100%.
So, I can't see the first picture very well because of exposure (bright light on white reflective scales and all) but I would guess male to be honest. the tail looks fairly long.

I tried to take a picture to maybe provide reference/ or at least comparison. I'm mostly certain mine is female:
You can see how immediately after where her vent is, the tail instantly drops off into a straight, sharp taper.

So I'm gathering this should only be done to hatchlings and not an older snake due to causing injury ?
