Breeding plans ruined/ RIP

I started into cornsnake care about 5 years ago with the purchase of my amel (pierre), who i later found out was a female. This past winter, I decided I wanted to hook her up with a mate. I went to Tom Thompsons place, which is where i found out Pierre actually was a female, and while there I picked her up a normal het amel and blood, possibly het anery and lava. Also this past winter, I purchased a male 06 golddust motley, for future plans of course.

Today I went down to the basement to bring my 2 corns out of brumation. I found the normal male to be perfectly fine, rather alert. When I uncovered Pierres cage, I saw she was dead. I have no clue what caused the death, It looks as though she died within the past couple days, which sucks even more because I originally was going to bring them upstairs on Wednesday (2 days ago). Basically, I'm really upset. Not only are my 1st breeding plans now down the drain, she was the first snake I ever owned.

I suppose I am now in search of a female, homo or het for something the normal I purchased from Tom is het for. (Once again, the male is 100% het amel and bloodred, 66% lhet ava and anery A). I guess Ill post more about this in the cornsnakes wanted forum.

:shrugs:

RIP Pierre

Unfortunately, that's when most adults corns end up dying. It seems that the temp drop really weakens their immune systems and those that aren't strong enough don't make it out of their brumation.

You'll probably have a difficult time coming up with an adult female that het or homo for bloodred, unless you're willing to fork out some cash. The amel part will be a breeze, but best of luck.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I guess you learned something from this though to check on them more often. Good luck in the future and again sorry.

Oh, Doug....I am soo sorry to hear about your loss of Pierre. I personally would be heartbroken. Here's wishing you best of luck on finding another female and to future brumations

Tragic. I had no idea things like this could happen. I never plan on breeding so I've never researched it.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking. :0(

I'm sorry this happened. Nothing is worse than finding a favourite snake dead. Best of luck with your future breeding plans.
