I got a nice shot of this Peppered Moth a few days ago. :)

Here are some from the camping trip I just took. The last one looked cool I thought.

My brother's a mini entomologist (at 15 years old, he's a member of his 4-H entomology club and has cases upon cases of bugs he's collected) and I'm going to email him this thread. I'm sure he'll love the pics! What cameras do you guys use???

A couple more!

These are a couple pics I took at the St. Louis Zoo (a butterfly and a moth). I took LOTS of pictures while I was in St. Louis so I am sure more will follow as I go through them and pick out my favorites!

Oh beautiful butterfly! I went into the butterfly enclosure when I was at the St Louis Zoo ages ago, it was fun to see them all flying around. Which according to my National Audubon Society Field Guide to Butterflies, is a Zebra Swallowtail.

Here's a native variety, which according to my National Audubon Society Field Guide to Butterflies, is a Zebra Swallowtail, that was rather friendly and photogenic:

But on closeups, the camera focus kept getting confused by the pattern so I apologize for the slight fuzziness. =/

And a Fiery Searcher I found floating in our defunct pool full of tadpoles. Apparently this is a nocturnal species, largest of the ground beetles (Tiger beetle relative) and I probably would never have seen it had it not drown, sad as that is. So I dried it out and its in a box with other "treasures". :grin01:

But beautiful, even in death!
