Thanks Dad! I know how much you like bugs, flowers, etc. for photographing! I always LOVE seeing your pictures!

beetle

I accidentally posted these pics on another thread and decided to go ahead and post them here also.

Nice beetle Jimmy, looks like a female Rhinoceros beetle. Beautiful specimen.

Gee Terri, next time you go take me with you. Some of those butterflies are gorgeous. =D

Well...I'm planning on going back in August. I am thinking about setting up a table at the reptile show. I'll let you know for certain as soon as I can.

Very pretty beetle, Jimmy!

Wow, I love that dragonfly! I'm a sucker for dragonflies. I could sit and watch them flit and flutter back and forth catching their food.

I have a few new ones as well. Its been a pretty active bug season around here. Must have been such a good spring they all made it to adulthood.

A "Question Mark" butterfly I found out by the chicken coop flirting with death. It landed on my arm and hitched a ride across the yard and into the house where I took pics of it. With the heat and humidity, the sweat on my skin must have been enough of an attractant to keep it around.

Guess where it gets its name from? ;)

And a baby praying mantis that's been munching on baby caterpillars on my herbs out front. =)

Headshot of my cousin.. taken last summer. Looking back I wish i'd gotten it in macro but my camera was pretty new to me at that point and I didn't fully comprehend it's limits yet.

Such beautiful pictures from everyone, I love being able to look at all the intricate details.

Female Hercules Beetle

I have lived in Tennessee for most of my life and have NEVER seen one of these beetles before. It was one of the most amazing bugs I have ever seen. The cool thing is that I found this female about 4 days ago. Today I found a male! I will be uploading pics of him tomorrow.

Jimmy, somehow I missed your post showing the female Hercules beetle. I found some of my own, though. ;)

Here are pics of the male:

A gorgeous moth!

I'm not sure what kind of moth this is, but it sure was pretty. It was also quite large.

Terri, awesome finds!

I haven't seen a Hercules beetle in years. The moth looks to be a female Polyphemus moth, and gravid from the appearances of her abdomen. We have quite a few Luna moths around here.

Here's my latest bug entries, an unidentified scarab/tumblebug type guy:

And some sort of damselfly:

Taceas, that beetle looks a lot like one that ended up in my hair not long ago... hehe.
Lovely moth, btw. Wish I had a camera, so I could get pics of the hundreds of caterpillars currently getting rid of the nettles in my garden ^_^
