I also feel that we as members have an obligation to listen to both sides of the story, and for those trying to find back door methods of doing a BOI on a site that has rules against posting BOIs on it, I think we as general members need to call them out on that. Robbie's post does just that and I can't rep him enough. It seems like the perfect solution for those attempting to destroy someones reputation hiding behind private messages.

You DO know that negative rep has been enabled for Contributor level members, don't you? Seems to me that this is what it was designed for.
 
Personally, I have no plans to use the negative rep system. I do know that it has been used successfully on other sites, but I don't feel comfortable using it myself. Sarcastic comments, sure (and if deserved, I will take the appropriate infractions like what happened recently). But not negative rep. Who knows? Maybe I'll find a use for it in the future, but I don't foresee that happening.

Using sarcastic comments to belittle another member in public is not recommended here. If that is to be your preferred method of interfacing with other members on this site, then this will likely not end well concerning your relationship with this site.
 
I try avoid comments like that as often as possible. I try not to push the line, but sometimes my better judgement tends to take a mini vacation. In times where that has happened, I've owned up to it happening, and don't complain with whatever judgement you and the moderating team feels necessary. Moving forward, I will keep myself more in check, and make sure those comments don't make their way into my posts. My sincerest apologies for any grief I have caused you or the mod team in the past.

Making my way back to the topic at hand, the BOI has been involved, so I will refrain from any further posting.
 
Actually, I am glad Robbie pointed out that possible motive in the original post. Because it didn't occur to me to send a private message to find out more details, it also didn't really occur to me that the "BOI via pm" COULD be the real reason for the post. I thought of it more as just somebody who didn't know how the BOI worked - which could also be true. Although I don't know the real motivation, keeping all possibilities in mind does make a difference in how I might respond. I will remember that for any future, similar postings. But thanks for the insight, Robbie.

Sounds like it is on the BOI now, so I will check it out there.
 
Ok so I posted this to my friends in frustration for my situation, I see not all are able to offer friendly advise with side and lines to be drawn. If I wanted side and negative reputations ect I would have posted in the boi. And since I did make every effort to keep specific information from this that is how it should have been handled. I have my proof my emails, Pm and photos to show. I'm pretty sure Robbie, that no one posts in their terms and conditions that they will be selling you an animal and saying one thing to describe it and you will find a photo later showing that was a lie. I guess I will make further references to the boi thread, that john started and post all of my proof over to show there are defiantly sharks in the water and they stick together. Even when there wrong!
 
Tammy I'd stake my reputation that John did not knowingly send you guys a snake he knew would not breed down the road. Really a shame y'all couldn't have worked this out more amicably. That it's on the BOI now does force your hand(s) to prove this was done intentionally. We (including the aforementioned "sharks") of the corn snake community have been pretty good at policing ourselves, and avoiding the use of the BOI to out "bad guys" amongst the corn community. And if it is was to be proven true, and done with intention, I for one wouldn't give him a pass on it. Your only as good as your word. I would be VERY surprised tho, if this was indeed the case here. I've been wrong before too...

Fwiw I can totally understand your frustration, but I think this could have been resolved in a way that all parties would have been satisfied.
 
So since everyone wants to be all like shame in Tammy and Kevin and not wait to let me make my post on the boi, here just so you know I tried we waited he didn't offer, he sold me a snake and told me he never bred it, we later found pics of it breeding. He said he forgot then we found pics of it with eggs, to that point he Said oh ya that's right she duded out. So if you don't mind refraining from passing judgement till I have all my info since my asking for help on console from my supposed friends has turned into a backstabbing soap opera I will need a bit of time to gather all my emails and pm to show what he said and did. Thank you.
 
Oh and this would have stayed simply a console for friends if Christen had not asked me in a pm to please tell her for her own safety and she would never tell anyone, but then turned around and sent the email to him directly. So that's where the sharks feeling as coming from. Again trust and morals.
 
Really. Are you saying _any_ of us would knowingly hide one of our fellow breeders, even a highly respected long-term member of the corn breeding community, if we _knew_ they were intentionally cheating people? While you're at BOI there's a mile-long thread about a cornsnake breeder that shows even the biggest names can be brought down if a little guy speaks up.

Like Chris says, I'm extremely surprised this didn't work out some other way. Has it occurred to you that a person might not _be able_ to just pull $1000 out of their pocket, even if they wanted to? The last few years have been excruciatingly difficult for many people, financially, and I'd venture to guess that very few people could manage that.

I feel badly, because I'd recommend the breeder in question as being of the highest repute, and I might even be someone who pointed Kevin in that direction in the first place. I don't know where the heck everything broke down. I do know there _is_ no guarantee that an animal will ever breed, lay successfully, hatch perfect hatchlings. This whole time I have felt sympathetic towards you two- putting myself in your shoes- I _know_ how it is to pin your hopes on some one specific animal, only to have it not work out for one reason or another. I still wish you guys could sort it out and not end up hating each other and everyone involved with each other.

Can _I_ do anything to help you out? I have a Tessera het fire that sired his first gorgeous clutch of live, perfect babies this season. Would it help at all if you sent me a female of yours to breed to him in 2014? Do you want me to try with the female in question even? I can't promise to work a miracle, but I can sure try. If I can do anything to effect a solution in which everyone does NOT end up hating each other, please let me do so.
 
Thank you Nancy, I am sorry for being brash but I have tried sending Pm's to ask for any solution they have all been ignored since 4-28, before then they were met with hostility for just asking. I never wanted this to turn into a boi thing or go this way but after being shot down then ignored I was frustrated and looking for help. Thank you for the offer, thank you for offering to try something even though you have no obligation to do anything it means a lot. We will talk about it and pm you about it. Thank you.

OK gang, I don't see any reason for this to continue here. I am willing to allow generic and non-specific threads about "business and morals" and the like on this site, but this is no longer the case here. I really don't like to close threads, but since this thread has left the rails at full speed, you leave me no choice. This topic has moved to the BOI, so this thread is now done here.
