Our Great Governor Jerry Brown is putting a new bill to pass that any reptiles, rabbits, birds basically any animal other then a dog or cat will be killed once it is brought into the shelter. Also Dogs and Cats will be killed after 72 hours. If you are in California please call or write your local congress to not pass this bill. Just think if your snake gets out and the neighbors call animal control they wont keep it they will just kill it. This is supposed to get Cali out of the hole im ready to move..

Er, I don't know where you got your "information", but that's not what's happening. He's talking about repealing part of Hayden's law, which requires a holding period of at least 4 days and prompt veterinary care for any animal entering the shelter system.

If this is repealed, the shelters will not be required to hold the animals or provide prompt veterinary care.

This is not a good thing, but spreading misinformation about it is not good either.

How did I give out misinformation? Because I didnt say it was Haydens law? If there is no 72 hour period all reptiles and small animals will be killed. I got my information from a LA county animal control officer and from reading blogs and information like your link. I might not know everything but I did not give out any wrong information. It is a bill he wants to pass, They will kill the small animals and reptiles and more dogs and cats will die. Thanks for the input and that link was very useful with some great looking dogs on that site. have a nice day

Taxman, by what I read, the government is planning on repealing the requirement to hold the animal four to six days instead of three days before the animal becomes property of the shelter. In other words, this quote from your OP:

Ok I apolgize for saying its a new bill. But how do you repeal a bill? u have to put another bill in from what I understand.

A county shelter worker told me that the dogs and cats will be held for 72 hours then put down. But the smaller animals will be put down the same day they are brought in. Thats what I was told. So I looked it up online and they have been talking about it on talk radio for days now. I was just posting what I heard and saw just like you are.
