Camping (pics)

I went camping last night in Lake Talquin state park, or more appropriately we illegally drove down an equestrian trail to get to a 'picnic' site where we camped.

The plan was to camp in the Apalachicola National Forest, but all those people with who shoot poor defenseless animals were out there hunting. So, no camping in the ANF until general hunting season is over (Nov 24-Feb 1st).

So anywho, it was a nice time. Even though it was pouring this morning it was still nice to just be out and away from everything. Now unfortunately I didn't get to pee with any bears, but well you know. We did hear the coyotes 'talking' to each other last night, and I had a tick decide that my stomach looked appetizing (blagh). Amazing though, a 1.25 mile walk to the campsite and back, along with walking through the woods to get firewood and I didn't see one friggin' thing. I'm always confused by that--all that walking and nothing. Oh well.

Here are some sunset and fire photos (mainly fire because I'm a pyro). Enjoy.

Great pics, Joe. It looks like a lovely place to camp. I'm sorry you didn't get to sing to the bears while you peed, better luck next time.

Love the lake shots, and the fire shots are beautiful.

That's cool Joe. I need to get in a mini vacation pretty soon or I'm going to errupt. Hey, you got anymore fire pics? :grin01:

I'm a pyro too, so I really like the fire photos. I saw "Grizzly Man" last night, so I'm never camping again. :grin01:

That's got to be the best thing about living some place that's warm all year round. My husband & I go camping once a month. It's awesome. My husband is right there with you guys in the "pyro" department. His zen is chopping wood :D

What...you didn't take a pic of the tick? You could have really given me the "willies" with that...I HATE ticks!

Yeah, I wouldn't blame ya Susan :p

Those are some nice pics hun. Very "National Geographic" worthy. I'm heading up to Santa Cruz in about 2 months, and I can't wait to hit some of that beach scenery with my camera. Yes, I know mine can't even compare to yours, but I'm easily pleased. At least its not that crappy camera I had
