Carpet Python Size Question

Addict in the making
I just got an e-mail from Nick Mutton about inland carpets. He will be breeding a pair this spring. I was suprised to learn that his male breeder is only 3 1/2' long. I know the males are usually smaller in carpets, but are they usually a lot smaller? I may have to re-think getting a male unless I go with a coastal carpet. I would be dissapointed if after 5 years my carpet wasn't over 6'. Ideally I want a snake in the 7-8 foot range. This is, after all, a big snake fix for me.
Another question for you breeders out there. I have no plans on breeding if/when I get a carpet, so I was going to get a male since I seem to remember reading about possible female problems. What are the possible problems with a female vs a male? Should I be concerned about them, or am I worrying for nothing. I really know very little about snake reproduction.

The prices of inlands may be out of reach, but all of the carpets are beautiful so I may get a jungle, coastal, diamond or mix. My main concern is to get a healthy snake that's a good eater, with a good temperment, that will give me the big snake pet I've always wanted. That means 7-8'.

I wish I could edit on this forum. Sometimes when typing on my laptop, funny thingd happen. I think it's the touchpad. Hopefully people will be so stumped by the title that they'll check it out just to see what the heck it is.:awcrap:

Check out Bredli's. Not exactly Carpets but they were a short while ago.
These get to the size you are talking about.
As for problems with males. None I can think of.

Let me just fix that for you! I thought you did it on purpose...I was going to suggest you talk to Mike, but I see he has already found you.

Thanks Nanci, that's much better.
Mike, I will check those out. I was thinking there might be problems with females. Can they have egg problems without a male being present?

try www.moreliapythons.com for information on the various types of carpets as well as the crosses. I've got a juvenile diamond x jungle, and my (very limited) understanding is that you may need to look at a costal or inland if you're looking for a larger carpet, jungles typically range 5-7 feet.
