Changes in Okeetee

I've noticed a considerable difference in a baby Okeetee to a full grown. And I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of their own Okeetees as they grew...I'm just curious to see the changes :)

I've only had my Okeetee since April and she hasn't grown too much. Maybe 2" since I got her. She's feeding a lot better now, so I suspect she'll fill out faster now. When she does, I'll take some more pictures of her to compare. It will be interesting to see how they develop.

Hi Jenn,
I've always been a bit dubious as to whether my snake is an okeetee as he doesn't have those typical white bands around the saddles. But that's what the breeder said he is, so I suppose he knows best :) Here you are anyway:

Ok so it decided to put them in order of file size instead of name. Start with the bottom left picture and go around counter/anti-clockwise. Ta da!

Looks like a reverse Okeetee to me. It's an amelanistic version of the regular Okeetee where there is white instead of black around the saddles. Here's my Aztec Okeetee for comparison.

Two people 'in the know' (plus breeder) have said that now so I guess that's what he is - thanks Meg! Lovely Aztec too, is s/he very old?

She is almost a year old. Her birthday is around August. She's much smaller than my amel is, and I don't think she'll ever be as large. We'll see how it goes over the next year. Your snake is really nice looking too, and he looks pretty big.

You're not wrong, he is huuuge! I can't believe how much he's grown this last year, especially when I look at pictures back when he was all cute and slender!

I just checked his records to find his birth date and it's the 13th of July! He'll be five years old in 20 minutes (England time!) Yay happy birthday Sir Charlesbottom :)

This snake was sold to us by a local pet store as an Okeetee Phase (LoOkeetee) but seems like a rather nice normal to me. I guess you can't really tell their 'true' colors until about a year and half, as the yellows and oranges don't always come in until after a year- darn genetics! :p. Our Okee has a very nice bright coloring up front and on the tail but it's middle has a rather dirty wash.

Here's a pic from about 10 months ago and a couple pics from yesterday. Abi was under 12 inches in the first pic and is now 26.5 inches long. The new snap shots were taken with indirect natural light so they're a little on the dark side. As you can see there have been a LOT of changes in less than a year.

BTW- Great looking snake Meg!

She is a beaut, but I dont think that she has thick enough boarders.

Here are a couple of pics of my Aztec Normal:

Cheers

This may be a stupid question which I really should know the answer to, but how can you tell the difference between a hypo and a normal???

Hypomelanism is a reduction of black pigment. It can disappear completely making a snake look like an amel albino except that their eyes are not red.

that is a sweet lookin' Aztec, Alex...I really like the 50% Aztec/50% normal look....very nice :)
