Christmas ideas for brother? :)

measley

Smile, you are alive!!
Hi all! I hope everyone is coming along ok with their christmas shopping this season!

I've got most on my list but I always have trouble picking something out for my baby brother. (Actually, he's 19 years old but still my baby brother!) I figured maybe you creative bunch will have some ideas for me! I'll appreciate any replies!!

My brother is a college student, he plays ultimate frisbee on his uni's competing club and also works out a lot and enjoys cooking. He's not really big on other sports like baseball and football.

He loves electronics but is not a gamer and he has a great sense of humor. He's also a HUGE practical joker.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

And if anybody else wants to expand this thread to ask for ideas themselves for other people, that is completely fine by me!!

Thanks!

Like any college student there is only one truly great gift..... Cash!

Okay sorry ...no real ideas for ya.

LOL- thanks Whippet!! Problem is, I'm a poor college student too!! :)

I'm thinking something in the range of $30...

Hmmmmm... $30.00. Does he listen to music.. have an iPod or a Zune or something? Would a Gift Card toward getting music for his MP3 player work? That way he could choose what music he wants???

Cooking??? An exotic cookbook?

Ahhhhh! Who am I to bother helping... I'm so TERRIBLE with gifts! LOL.

Good luck!

What about a practical joker book so he will be up to date with all the new pranks out there. To me that sounds like it could lead to lots of fun.

I was going to second the music player stuff too! I'm bad at this... my 2 brothers are easy to shop for. One of them is obsessed with any University of Tennessee alumni stuff, and the other one is a comic book geek!

Every once in a while, we like to throw in a reminiscent type of gift. For example, I bought my brother a t-shift that says "You have died of dysentery" (as in The Oregon Trail computer game) and he bought me a My Little Pony.

You _have to_ get him the book "Help I'm Being Held Prisoner!" One of my all-time favorite books. Donald Westlake.

Help I Am Being Held Prisoner (1974)
A cross between a crime caper and a "nephew" book, and generally considered one of Westlake's best. An ingrained practical joker, sentenced to prison after one of his jokes got out of hand, is inadvertently dumped into a gang of prison trusties who are able to periodically sneak out of prison to commit robberies for which they have the perfect alibi: they're in jail. The hero is not a criminal by nature, and is terrified but must hide his fear from the gang, who are tough enough that they might kill him if he chickens out. So he uses his skill at practical jokes to surreptitiously disrupt their plans. Despite the personal danger to the protagonist, the book is closer to comic than to serio-comic, and it has some good funny plot pieces.

Get him something small like a gift token (maybe for music like someone said) and if he likes practical jokes play one on him- we once did that with someone. We wrapped up their gift token in an envelope, then put it inside a box, filled it up with packaging bubblewrap, those little polysyrene things etc), then put it in another box and then another one, taping it up really tight each time, until we had a hue box and wrapped in nice paper. I looks like they're getting something massive. The person we did it to's eyes nearly popped out his head when he saw the huge gift we had for him and he got ripping, being all gushy and everything, then it turned to laughing because he was there for ages and just ended up with this tiny gift token- not that size matters he was still pleased with it.

Cash. Cash is good. Or even one of those American Express or Visa gift cards that he can use anywhere.

On a side note, whatever am I going to get for my little sister?! She's 17, going to be 18 in January. I'm half tempted just to get her a pack of Newports and call it good!

Lol- Cash. Cash is good. :) Just kidding, Robbie!

What are her interests?

I'm getting my bro one of these:
bottle's

They're metal, no plastic leaching. And they look cool, good for anyone who drinks water.

OOh! What a great idea!! It would be nice for his sports too!

Thanks all!! If anybody else needs advice for presents feel free to post here!!
