Chronicles of ringworm *picheavy*

Some people are, some aren't. It's rather odd. I have snuggled up to ringworm kittens (unknowingly) and have yet to get it again. Thus, I volunteer to do dips and/or clean rooms and cages where they have been housed. Other people though, they so much as look at a ringworm case from across the hospital and they get ringworm it seems. Maybe it's because I never used an antifungal on it when I did get it. Took about 2 months to clear up, which sucked, but I seem to be at least moderately immune. At the very least, it's been about 7 years since I last got it.

Hes done this twice today, I think its his new "spot"

See the fence in the background. He climbs out of his area, walks on the fence and ends up here unbeknowst to myself.

Think he feels safe because its under the table.

We had a dr's appointment today. Said Moglie looks great and I was doing a good job of getting all the dead skin off him, and the poor thing seemed used to being handled cause he didnt cry when the doctor was doing all kinds of things to him.

I had the stool tested again and he has roundworm which I expected so he was de-wormed also and then again in 2 weeks. We had to double his meds because his weight double in 10 days. He is 2.2 pounds now. :p So now he is on 0.7 cc's of Sporonox a day. Least I know he is coming along.

It's kind of a cognitive dissonance with many people, but all those bacteria that we're told to watch out for are pretty much everywhere anyway. It takes some kind of event (Such as contact with an aggressive infection or something weakening the immune system like a virus) to cause those bacteria to grow into a harmful colony.

Put it out of your mind or don't, but we are absolutely COVERED in mites, germs and viruses that our immune system does constant and unending battle with. :)

Justine, I've been following this thread because what you're doing is absolutely heartwarming. I wish I could rep you like crazy for this.

UPDATE:

The dogs are off the Griseofulvin because both of their cultures came back negative. The doctor wanted to be sure it was the same thing because the treatment for one dog was something like 23$ a day. So whatever Dale had is gone and apparently it wasnt ringworm, and the cats will all continue to be medicated anyway.

Mine are gone too! Woohooo! And Moglie has grown so much, all his patches are gone and hes doing great. Hes now 3 pounds.

Hes changed so much in the month Ive had him...

Things Moglie has learned in 4 weeks....

- My name is Moglie but I only respond to 'pussy cat'

- Mommy stores food in the refrigerator, when she opens it, if I am fast enough I can jump onto the bottom shelf and climb inside without her knowing.

- When the adult cats meow, follow them, someone is about to give out food.

-When the adult cats meow, meow LOUDER then them, mommy feeds the loudest cat first because we tremble her nerves with the crying.

- Mommy curses when I chase her legs and sink my nails into her ankles while holding on for a ride.

- My brother Irwin looks strikingly familiar..

LOL

He has also stopped pooping out worms. That was a lovely experience. He gets one more deworming pill on the 14th and then we should be clear.
