Here is a snake that my friend pulled out of a bin of wholesale cornsnakes. He saw it, thought it looked different and brought it over to my house. I have no idea what its parents are but I am 100% positive that he does not mess with hyrids of any kind. I think he is pretty nice looking. He kind of looks like a motley but he has belly checkers. Its not completely checkered but it doesnt look like a typical motley belly. Thanks

It does look a lot like some Milksnake Phase X Motley hatchlings, they will often also sport a head pattern similar to outcrossed bloods.

I agree, it does have a bit of the milkmot look to it.
 
Here's one too,

This is a Hypo Lavender I hatched this year with the same thing going on. The first half to the dorsum is displaying a Motley pattern, while the ventral is checkered. The funny thing is though, in the same area where the Motley pattern is on the dorsum, the ckecks on the ventral are very few and spaced out.

As you work further down ( from neck to tail ) the checks get to be more, as dose the dorsum pattern goes into a "normal" blotched pattern.

Makes you wonder if this is a visual "het" trait of some sort?

I guess we'll see in a couple years if this means anything. :shrugs:

That one resembles a few I've seen that you'd swear were Motley but have ventral checkering. The one female that my friends (Lazy Slither Ranch) bought looks very similar. I have a feeling it is more like an Aztec trait that is more consistant then aborant.

What you've described about the ventral and dorsal patterns mirroring each other sounds a lot like the MilkMot syndrome. I wonder if it is the result of Lav crossed with MilkMot further back in it's lineage?

I'm not 100% certain, but I am 98% sure it's not. This hatchling came from my Hypo Lavender Stripe project.

The starting adults for this project was a male Hypo Lavender ( loaner form Don ) and my female Hypo Striped het Amel. I got her from Jeff @ Hall of Fame Reptiles back in 99'.

I know the Hypo Striped definatly dose not have any milk phase blood and I'm pretty sure Don's Hypo Lavender male I used dosen't either. I can check with him to be sure on this though.

Makes me wonder the fact that the Striped and Motley traits are linked, maybe that's playing a part in the effect here??

Yeah it looks like it does have bloodred in it. Based on the way the head looks and the coloration. Def hold on to that little bugger and keep us updated with pics.
