Corn and ball in shed at the same time?

Sekani

Officially Corn Obsessed
Hey!
So Layla has finally gone into shed after 3 months! The night we got her, she and Onyx shed the same night. Onyx shed again about a month and a bit ago. Tonight I checked on the two of them and they have both gone into blue at the same time again! Its so weird, kinda like women's menstrual cycles when they synchronise! However, I don't know if this is just coincidence or what? Their tanks are beside each other...don't know if that makes a difference..

Oh and does anybody think onyx's nostril is a bit red? Or is it just me?

Anyway here's some quick pre shed shots:

The nostril is looking more pinkish on my screen.

Probably just a coincidence, Rose Red (corn snake) and Anck Su Namun (Brazilian Rainbow Boa) have gone into shed at the same time on several occasions in the past.

I have many snakes that tend to shed at the same time...kind of like women all getting on the same cycle if they work together...don't know why..just happens. While the nostril looks a bit pink I'd be willing to bet that it will go away once shed is over.

Yeah I think its quite cool! I'd love to look more into it to see if theres more info on it its so
interesting!

I wondered if it was because they're both fed on the same schedule and so grow at the same rate...

Not all snakes will grow at the same rate regardless of feeding schedules. I generally feed the same day but if one of mine is not eating that night for whatever reason or I don't thaw enough rats, they may get fed on another day. I certainly have some that go off food for multiple feedings...usually males...but they all seem to shed around the same time anyway....I don't know why it is...convenient though.

Well my ball is on a ten day feeding schedule and my corn a five day, so I suppose feeding schedules could be kind of in sync but they certainly do grow at very different rates! They too would be fed different days sometimes. Hmmm....

Might still work out in that case. Pythons and boas are generally slow metabolizers..corns are faster...might equalize the growth rates somewhat...

Right now, my corn snake, black rat snake, and blue-tongue skink are all about ready to shed! It's kind of annoying though because I was supposed to bring them to 4-H on Sunday, but just a coincidence.
