Hello, I've been into reptiles my whole life. Up until about 7 yers ago, I was mainly just into reptiles. I've kept various snakes and lizards. I had a breeding pair of corn snakes about 10 years ago. But due to poor husbandry (I'm assuming) disease wiped out my 3 adults and 10 babies. I have totally gotten out of reptiles since my Bearded Dragon died of old age this past year, and I've been primarily a tarantula guy for the last 7 years.
But I've always missed my corn snakes and I want to get back into them. I'm moving soon and hopefully after I get settled in I can find a place to buy and keep the corns snakes that I'd like to have.
When I bred them before, I had an aner and an amel, but I don't know if they were het for anything. What I got for babies when they bred were normals, aner, amel, and snow. I'd like to do that again. Do straight amel and aner produce like that or do they need to be het for something?
I'd also like to breed an amel with a charchoal to get blizzards. Again what do I need to shop for to ensure I've got the right breeding stock to get blizzard offspring, and what different offspring will yield from that cross?
I've been looking at buying the following books:
1. Corn Snakes : The Comprehensive Owner's Guide by Kathy & Bill Love (2005)
2. Corn Snakes In Captivity - Don Soderberg (2006)
3. Cornsnake Morph Guide - Charles Pritzel (2007)
Are these good enough, or would you reccomend any others?
Thanks
KJ
